Chevelle – Get Some Lyrics 20 years ago
A blackout can apparently also mean "holding back news or other types of information by censorship." Since I'm not really grasping the whole American Idol concept, and the getting drunk and having sex seems too obvious, I'm going to go political.

I tried an idea for no reason
[A political leader has done something for an unworthy reason, and is now regretting it]
Take the sun off our shoulders
[He can feel the heat that the press is giving him for this (the public consensus is breathing down his neck) and he wants it to go away]
Crawling back to
[Crawling, a sign of childishness (babies), and weakness (down on all fours), he lowers himself and declares what can and can't be seen by us. We aren't allowed to judge whether what he's done is right or wrong]

A black out [Everyday person starts to realize there is a lack of information and propaganda being feed to us constantly, so we are walking into the darkness, the unknown]
Touching new life [Whatever the person sees or hears is new to them and changes them. They touch a new part of life that is disappointing]
Face down [Person bows their head in shame, sadness, and disgust. Their eyes are away from what's happening because they don't want to see it. They are in disbelief]
Set the pace again [Person tries to ignore it all and move on, but moves differently now that they've been affected by what they've seen. They have to refigure how they are going to approach life from now on]

The drive, the idea still existing [This unworthy reason for acting certain ways is still around]
Sat and shuddered, broke the pattern [Person took the time to realize how horrible the situation is and became scared. They stopped ignoring what they're being told to ignore]
Falling inward [Fell into depression]
In and down, up and out [Did some soul searching and came back changed]
Let it go, follow way back [Person stops dwelling on what could have been done and now takes action when something terrible happens]
Call it off, any day, anyway [Telling these "leaders" to stop screwing around right now, no matter how. Just admit you’re wrong and do something to fix it, make it better]
Make you feel this [Until the "leader" decides to give in, this person will do their part to make sure they feel the "sun on their shoulders", the breath down their neck]

There's two ways I think of splitting this next part up.

1)
Don't take the fall [Don't crawl to another excuse]
We'd hate to see it [self-explanatory]
That's entertainment [It amuses the ignorant, but also amuses the ones paying attention, because it's the closest thing to admitting defeat that the "leader" will say.]
Get some [Grab a perspective of questionability, get involved and pay attention]
Eyes on the goal [They're looking forward to executing their plans]
Last one to get
Is passed over, looked over [Last person to understand what's going on is going to be too late to react]
Never rehearse [Sarcasm. They know exactly what they were going to do from the beginning]
They've spiked the water [They found ways to make us agree with them, to fall for the BS through our surroundings. Everyone is a drop in this pool of contaminated water]
It's in the blood [It's saturated into our nature causing us to be gullible for what appears to be the right answer, but we never truly know]
Get some
We've underestimated [Underestimated how easily things can get out of control if left neglected]
How can I
Get some
How can I
Get some
[Person wonders how they can get involved, make a difference, and fight back]

2)
Don't take the fall [Don't give into greed, don't become like the politician, corrupt and misleading]
We'd hate to see it [Nobody wants another tyrannical bastard]
That's entertainment [If you do though, it's no big deal. We'll treat you like another headline, another story to be ignored]
Get some [The pull towards greed and selfishness, the person is thinking about it]
Eyes on the goal [Everyone can see how easy it is to give in]
Last one to get
Is passed over, looked over [Last person to give in is too late to reap the rewards]
Never rehearse [To give in is natural and easy, takes no effort]
They've spiked the water [We see how easy it is to give in through situations in everyday life]
It's in the blood [It's a part of our nature to fail, to go astray from the path or righteousness]
Get some [The pull is getting stronger]
We've underestimated [Underestimated the amount of power that's held in tyranny]
How can I
Get some
How can I
Get some
[Person starts to think about giving in or how anyone can let themselves become evil]

A black out
Could this be the one [Will this be another lie/excuse, or a chance to change and turn around? To admit they were wrong and tell the truth? Possibly, could this be the event that ends us all (WWIII - atomic war)?]

Okay, I'm done.

Breach of Trust – Pretty Lyrics 20 years ago
It seems to me that this is about a person who has died and is in hell. They wonder how they got there since they thought they were heading for the path of heaven and then begins to wonder what they'd say to those they left behind. Problem is, if they could say something, they don't know if the advice would be good or not, otherwise why did they end up in hell when they thought they were doing things right? All this person can do is be with their loved ones in spirit from afar.

They also wonder what will happen to their soul when Judgement day comes, where every secret is revealed. Will they cease to exist (the stars will all fall down - they will be surrounded in darkness)?
