the first time i heard this song i almost didnt believe it was them. toms voice is amazing. i thought it was a song for their wives. maybe even a song for someone they once loved, like their first true love. that was my first impression, but.... when you dig deeper, beyond the lyrics and the obvious you find so much more. i may be wrong, but i believe this is a song dedication to one of travis's relatives or someone very close to him. possibly killed by a train or something to do with a train, maybe it was one of their favorite places to go as kids, i dont know. that would explain the train in the beggining. they've never played anything like this befor so why now? something would of had to influence the big change and what stronger an influence then loss? it would also explain travis' 3 minut solo in the end. because he doesnt sing, he plays from the heart dedicating every note to them. his own way of saying goodbye. maybe its just me but does it not make sence? |
