Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Maps Lyrics 18 years ago
I heard this song for the first time on Rock Band.. I was in a friend's room at college (just a week or so ago) and we picked random, and I had to sing it without having ever heard it before... right afterwards, I came back to my room and I downloaded the song (I had a free download from coke rewards)... I really like the song, I tend to not really get caught on the lyrics of it though, just the melody and the atmosphere of the song is amazing, it kind of puts you into a trance
I want to check out some more of their music, but I'll wait until I have some money to get cds.

Big D and the Kids Table – Hell on Earth Lyrics 18 years ago
When they did this song at Scranton on Warped Tour, it was so hilarious... someone threw their boxers on stage, and it screwed Dave up so much... he ended up singing "Let the goldfish swim outside" three straight times, then started laughing and wiped his face off with the boxers.. it was hilarious

On the song, it sounds so sarcastic when he sings it.. or as vickyzee said, irony... I still don't know for sure what's irony and what's sarcasm.. but still, nonetheless, the meaning's pretty obvious from the lyrics and this song fucking rocks

Sean Kingston – Beautiful Girls Lyrics 18 years ago
This song does completely suck... but that's why it's popular right now... I heard it on the radio for the first time today (because i was in the car with my girlfriend's family, I only listen to my iPod, my cd's, and stuff i hear about on the internet & at shows)... I heard the opening bassline, and it's completely the same as Stand By Me... I was like, what the fuck, when this guy started singing... that's all i really wanted to say was about the bassline.. this song sucks

Snow Patrol – The Finish Line Lyrics 19 years ago
I actually take this song in a way that is much different from anyone else.. I actually take this as a song from the view point of someone who has died, and their soul (or whatever you want to call it) is still there, but the body isn't.. idk

The earth is warm next to my ear, insect noise is all that I hear.. the body is being buried under the ground

The finish line represents death, but it's a good place to start the life that starts after death

The final verse is like the soul has left earth and has gone to space, and hearing the name is when he is going through the final judgement at the gates of heaven

Yea, this sounds really wierd, but that's what I get out of the song when I listen

Better Than Ezra – This Time Of Year Lyrics 19 years ago
There's also a second version of this song available on BTE's Greatest Hits album...

the main difference is that they stick in the first verse to "Get You In" after the second chorus..

I sit and watch your flowers wilting in the kitchen
I felt like I was one of them gasping for air
I go from room to room hoping to find your presence
I play my music louder than you like me to

This is an incredible song either way you hear it

Better Than Ezra – Waxing Or Waning? Lyrics 19 years ago
My idea was that it's about a girl who doesn't want to just stay where she is, she wants something more in life, and he wants to go along with her.. hence the question, waxing or waning?.. is this just the beginning of their time together, or is it coming to an end? And from the chorus, I gather that he doesn't want it to be the end...

That's what I get from the song.. and right now I sort of feel the same way.. my girlfriend is a grade ahead of me, she just graduated a few days ago and at the end of the summer she's going to the University of Vermont, while I'm stuck here for my senior year of high school in Pennsylvania.. I don't want this to end, so it's up to her, is our relationship waxing (beginning) or waning (ending)? It's really a beautiful song, I think.

Our Lady Peace – Thief Lyrics 20 years ago
This is the greatest song ever written, plain and simple. By the way, nobody's posted the outro to the song yet, here's the lyrics to it (the best me and my friend could figure out, pretty sure it's right)

Everybody knows, everyday, my Jesus keeps changing me, changing me, sunshine, rain, or time of day, I think Jesus is great

And in the lyric book inside the cover, it says that this part is sung by Mina Kim (the little girl the song is about), Joe Kim, Chantal Kreviazuk (Raine's wife), & Jeremy Taggart (their drummer). This adds so much onto an already great song.

Our Lady Peace – Lying Awake Lyrics 20 years ago
No wonder I never was able to figure out this song, that all makes sense now. I love that song, I could've listened to it a million times and not gotten what it meant...ok, maybe I did listen to it a million times and never figured it out. Now it all makes sense. Thaks for that.

iLOVEyouTASHA's description of the song really makes the most sense to me, maybe because that's sorta what I feel like. I don't know, but there isn't a single OLP song I don't love.

Our Lady Peace – Happiness & The Fish Lyrics 20 years ago
I agree with some of the earlier posts, it's about some people who just talk about themselves all the time and are "happy", but not truly. They just feel that they're superior, and get fake happiness (masturbating) by talking about how they're better than someone else. Anyway you look at it, "Talking is just masturbating without the mess" is one of my all time favorite lines in any song, hands down, & OLP is the best.
