i personally think that the verses are what the girlfriend wrote and the chorus is what the boyfriend thinks of her after getting the letter. he really loves her but doesn't know how to tell her after she called off the relationship. the leaky sink of sentiment part backs this up. like a leaky sink that you can't turn off, he can't ever totally get rid of his feelings for her. |

my humble opinion: when it says 'I'm just sitting in my car and waiting for my girl", I think it is kind of a coverup for any activity that the government wants to get rid of. If the guy in the song is approached by a police officer or such, he could say that he's waiting for his girlfriend, which is a normal and possibly encouraged thing to do |

this song has a really special meaning for me. i met one of my best guy friends in eighth grade andhe introduced me to a book (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, read it if you haven't) that revolved around a guy making a mixed tape for this girl that he really liked but thought that he could never have. the first time I heard this song, it was the same day that I learned that he had gone into rehab and I almost cried because the part that says "where are you now?" really matched my feelings. i'd like to think that he feels this way about me, but he's found a new group of friends and it breaks my heart to see him with them. |
