Wow, letting my freak flag fly. Long time ago....what a beautiful time in my life. This song always makes me feel a little melancholy, especially lately, because we tried so hard to make this country a better one, and it seems we're in the same position, possibly worse. Never again has the youth of America been as united as we were back then. Too bad they won out. Hard to fight crack, aids, no mental health care, just jails and prisons. Thanks for letting this old hippie vent a bit. Ya know if we didn't become Yuppies, we just faded away. Peace |

Okay here it is from an extreme left winger. He is talking about the government. "TheDouglas", I'm with you. No doubt in my mind. Ever since it came out we have always said that's what it was about. He is not only a very deep thinker and writer, he isn't stupid! You think he wants to end up like John Lennon. They have files on anyone they feel like "watching". Even on some average Joe's like us if we gave them one little reason. Hell they may have one on you! My best friend is an agent (FBI), he is the one that said no doubt at all. He said Sting is a very private man, but he has strong political views, especially about our rights and lack of.
On the new Whoopi Goldberg special on HBO, right at the end she talks about it also, very interesting.
As far as using it as a wedding song, that just makes me sad that people aren't more aware of what's going on in this country. We need to go look up a little Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young or Bob Dylan. |
