| Human Radio – Harsh Light of Reality Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
in the harsh light of reality we wear our shades or we close our eyes trip over our morality pick up ourselves with our little white lies indulge in our brutalities though it's ourselves we come to despise in the hard light of reality but i can see how we can be so fantasy dependent we don't sleep so easily if we can't dream of innocence we wish for immortality while making sure that it'll never happen count up all the fatalities and judge their values by the flags they're flapping our fake spirituality is pretty shabby in its silver wrapping in the harsh light of reality but i can see how we can be so fantasy dependent we don't sleep so easily if we can't dream of innocence in the harsh light of reality our progress often seems like mere destruction so much for rationality as long as we are keeping up production we fail to grasp the actualities our problems really are our own construction in the harsh light of reality but i can see how we can be so fantasy dependent we don't sleep so easily if we can't dream of innocence |

| Human Radio – My First Million Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
When I make my first million think I'll buy myself some happiness if there's a sale on satisfaction I might just have to stock up maybe I'll buy myself some muscles an a California lifestyle an irresponsible Ferrari an ex-cheerleader to knock up n if there is some left over I might buy a leather jacket and a brand new Harley-davidson and a fifth of cuervo gold n then I'd ride on out to Reno lose the rest in some casino n like any good like los angeleno keep my creditors on hold when I make my first million any day now when I make my first million any day now when I make my first million, oh oh oh any day now when I make my first million I will try hard to deserve it and like a good boy i will serve it out to those who need it most, let's see the lawyers the accountants politicians and executives the mighty u.s. government the father son and holy ghost when I make my first million any day now when I make my first million any day now when I make my first million, woah, oh oh oh any day now meanwhile I toil in my obscurity and my peanut butter sandwiches n when I make my first million I'll look back on this and grin now that greed is back in fashion I'll rebel with real compassion or else that stockpiled satisfaction will soon be turning to chagrin when I make my first million any day now when I make my first million any day now when I make my first million, oh oh oh any day now |

| Human Radio – Hole in My Head Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I say "hey" you say "what" Five minutes later you're calling me a pain in the butt n I'm out the door Thanks to something that poured Out of this hole in my head You say "why" I say "coz" Now I'm not really sure just what it was that I was talking about This stuff just sprouts, Out of this hole in my head, There's a crack in my windowpane, The wind is whistling through my brain And I feel now pain yet I feel shame of all the things that I said so now I'm telling you "wait" you say "why" I said "baby look me straight in the eye coz that's where the truth will lie The rest of it flies Out of this hole in my head" I lie alone on my big brass bed, The light is shinning right through my head I listen back with dread To the things instead that I should of said Now I'm telling you "goodbye" you say "what" I say "sticking with me is gonna drive ya nuts" But you said that you don't mind You like the heart that you find Here in this hole in my head Oh, You tell me that you don't mind, You like the heart that you find, In this hole in my head, In this hole in my head, In this hole in my head, In this hole in my head |

| Such a powerful song. Pete really captured the emotion of Florence Reece. I can hear her fire and determination. | |
| Placebo – Centerfolds Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I've always seen this song being about an old wealthy couple. The husband was/is a powerful man in his field. It's sung from the viewpoint of the trophy wife. "Come on fallen star I refuse to let you die 'Cause that's wrong and I've been waiting far too long" She's expressing how unfair it is for him to finally be around only because he's dying, either actually or his career is dying. "All the centrefolds that you can't afford Have long since waved their last goodbyes" The attractive models he can't afford due to his health or financially. "You've long since faded from their eyes So be, be mine" The models aren't interested in him anymore either. The wife, who has been there through all of the affairs, is asking for him to return her love. It's a very desperate love song. I can't imagine what that must feel like, but Placebo have weaved these lyrics so beautifully with the music that it accurately showcases the despair. |

| Skunk Anansie – Intellectualise My Blackness Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I've been through this myself. This song seems to be about a person who is being fetishized. The partner is material-wants another notch on their belt. They try to make up for it by intellectualizing their partner. Saying they're not like the rest of the people from their social class. And she is calling them out for it. | |
| Yeasayer – Forgiveness Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
My initial thoughts were that this is simply a song about asking for forgiveness. However I developed a back story. I have too much time on my hands. :P The song reminds me of a master-student relationship. The opening "Let me run" seems like someone asking for control, let me run [the ship]. An initiate is asking the High Priest/Priestess to be given a higher place in the religion/group. He'll take all the knowledge he's been given and run the group with the good reason they've taught him. "But I read all of my speeches All of my speeches" This is the first sign of the underlying intent. He's a liar/con-artist and has thoroughly prepared this disguise of humility. "My workstation of the dawn Doesn't mean that much" This line is what sparked my entire back story, and the tribal-esque drumming in the song. I was wondering what a "workstation of the dawn" could refer to. At some point my thoughts came to mythology. Throughout folklore there has been an emphasis on the changing from night to day. Cinderella is a popular modern example. Dawn is a time right before sunrise, it's bright enough to see, but still cloaked with a bit of darkness. It was often seen as the barrier between two worlds. Many religions have dawn goddesses and both Islam and several Christian liturgies require a prayer at this time. The initiate is saying the rituals/prayers he does at this time are meaningless. He's not involved for the spiritual aspects. He only desires power/too feel superior. "And I try to teach by my doing Your undoing But my time will be your ruin Will be your ruin" His true intentions are shown. He's aim is destruction. He wants to bring down the church/coven/religion/group. I never quite flushed out what he could be asking forgiveness for. It could be an antiquated concept of asking permission to speak, similar to "I beg your pardon". In general it seems like someone asking for forgiveness but in the end is really seeking your downfall. |

| Ane Brun – Alfonsina Y El Mar Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
For the soft sand sea licking Its small footprint becomes no more , A single trail of sorrow and silence came So deep water A trail dumb penalties just arrived Until the foam. God knows that I accompany anxiety Let your voice callus old pains To lie down in singing lulled From seashells The song he sings in the dark ocean bottom The conch . You'll alfonsina with your loneliness That new poems were to look ... ? An ancient voice of wind and salt Breaks your soul and is carrying And you go to beyond dreamily, Asleep , Alfonsina , dressed in sea ... Five little mermaids will take By ways of algae and coral And phosphorescent sea horses will make A round at your side And the inhabitants of water will play Soon your side. Put me down the lamp a little more Leave me alone to sleep nurse And if you call tell him I'm not Tell him alfonsina not return ... And if you call on never tell him that I am , Say that I'm gone ... You'll alfonsina with your loneliness That new poems were to look ... ? An ancient voice of wind and salt Breaks your soul and is carrying And you go to beyond dreamily, Asleep , Alfonsina , dressed in sea ... |

| Jay-Z – Sweet Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
He's reminiscing about his life. "My nephews would have grew up to do the same But since I grew up through the game And my influence is the same" How his choices will affect his family. "Shall we dance with the devil for a beat I pray to God I ain't got two left feet" He made some leaps of faith and hoped they turned out well. "So fly with no fear of the flight So if y'all hear my plight And if you think you can make it this far without fight" In the end he feels he's made the right choices. It was a hard road but each step taught him something meaningful. And now everything is just Sweet. |

| Lana Del Rey – Diet Mountain Dew Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
There seems to be massive confusion on the lyrics. The lyrics here are from the first music video. The problem is that there are several version floating around. Two demos, the album version, and two music videos, most of which have different compositions. Mainly the stanzas here are correct with a few alterations. Sometimes the last word is repeated and often both of the Diet Mountain Dew stanzas are used together. I didn't rewrite the whole stanzas so that this wouldn't be too long. The only one not listed in the current lyrics is number 10. [1] You're no good for me... [2] DMD, baby, NYC/ Never was there ever a girl so pretty... [3] Baby put on heart shaped sunglasses... [4] Take another drag turn me to ashes... [5] Hit me my darling tonight... [6] DMD, baby, NYC/ Can we get it downlow, down and gritty... [7] Let's take Jesus off the dashboard... [8] Maybe I like this rollercoaster... [9] Hit me and tell me you're mine... [10] baby stopping at seven eleven bearing his white Pontiac heaven do you think we'll be in love forever do you think we'll be in love ** Born To Die Album Version = 1.2-6.3.4.2-6.7.8.2-6.1.2.10.2-6.1(x3) Music Video#1 = 1.2.3.4.5.2-6.7.8.9.2-6.1(x2).2.10.6.2 Music Video#2 (NYC T-Shirt) & Demo#1 = 1.2-6.3.4.2-6.7.8.2-6.1(x2).2-6.2.10.2-6.1 Demo#2 = 1.2(x2).3.4.2(x2).7.8.2(x2).1(x2).2(x6) Hopefully this will help everyone know which version they are listening to. Also I think the line is "Maybe the speed it brings me closer" |

| Lana Del Rey – Get Drunk Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Yep I agree with WanderingYetChained. The first few times I heard the song I thought the lyrics were "I am, and you can't. Won't tell no one about it." That gave me the impression that she's talking to a now sober friend. The best friend she is sleeping with is alcohol. She's coxing this person, understanding that they're now sober and can't/or shouldn't drink. But she's promising to not tell anyone, if they'll get drunk and have a ball with her. |

| Lana Del Rey – Backfire Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Sounds like a love song from Bonnie to Clyde. | |
| Lana Del Rey – Money Hunny Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| The tiresome despair just drips off her vocals in this tune. | |
| Lana Del Rey – Pretty Baby Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
A beautifully soft song. The chorus and the second verse lead me to think the singer is in a bit of denial about the relationship ending, that sentiment is further flushed out when she explains she doesn't want to believe they want to leave. A fairly sad and lurching tune of unrequited love. |
|
| Lana Del Rey – Next to Me Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Sounds like a man growing older and feeling his age. He's chatting with a young woman and pondering the course of his life thus far and what chain of events could take place if he agrees to sit with the woman. From this interpretation the young woman only repeats the same line. "Hey man, how you doin'? Would you like to sit next to me? " |
|
| Lana Del Rey – For K (Part 1) Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Seems like a straight forward story. A person the singer knows has committed some crime. She was close to this person and is questioning their motives and expressing how she feels in light of the situation. | |
| I Monster – Daydream in Blue Lyrics | 12 years ago |

| This is 100% wrong. These are the lyrics to India Arie's "Beautiful". | |
| Lana Del Rey – Disco Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Very beautiful slow tempo song. It seeps of despair and nihilism. The first verse expresses the hustle and bustle of a fast paced life. Taking charge with no regrets. The second verse discusses her infatuation with this lifestyle. Continuing to live it up and lush it out. The third verse dives into the dark side of the fabulous life. The cold harsh truth is that the dark makes the light so much brighter. "You know how I like that celebrity type" |

| Lana Del Rey – Get Drunk Lyrics | 12 years ago |

| The Demo version of this song is incredible! | |
| Lana Del Rey – Try Tonight Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I've been thinking this song involves an alter ego. Given Lana's history I'm guessing it involves alcohol. In the beginning she is trying to quit drinking. She knows she wants to be sober, but recognizes its going to be hard. As the night goes on she isn't able to stay sober. "when he enters, all of the lights go dim he's so sure, he got a tragic lifestyle" This first "He" is the drink itself. As the song continue the "He" is her when she is drunk. "if he could go on without your help then he would do it all it all by himself" Her drunk persona is requesting help from her sober persona, and is promising to try again, tonight. |

| Rihanna – Cold Case Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is about relationships and interactions. When its good its good and its "love" when its over its bitter and its "cold" This relationship is on trial, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Should they have started it? shouldn't they have? She seems to be mainly battling ith the duality of the totality of the relationship,, weighing out the goods and bads and seeing if she (the judge and jury) feels it was worth it. Whatever the case it's over and hopefully they can learn from the situation. My personal favorite off this album. |

| I thought the same thing. I'm not sure, I'm leaning towards bad. Lack of patience and full of greed. | |
| The Black Eyed Peas – Showdown Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| No Comments? Come on its a countdown song! Heh I like it but I'm wondering what it is that is going down, they didn't say...oh I know it's 2012. haha. They did say they were going to "Take you high like elevators...Call us the penetrators" Like penetrating your conscious and raising your vibration...the whole album is about energy anyway. | |
| The Black Eyed Peas – Out Of My Head Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Heh Did Fergie get an accent? In any case jazzy song, very groovy 70s funk bass riff. The song seems to be about getting away from whatever is in her head. In her case that's going out drinking and flirting. I kind of hated that "I forgot the bridge" thing she does at first, but it's funny enough. | |
| Bat for Lashes – Sad Eyes Lyrics | 16 years ago |

the end goes like this: Trying to hold it together Keep my love as light as a feather Sad eyes baby Its been such a long time Keep my heart breaking in the dark Come and spend the night... Sad eyes I'm trying to hold it together Keep my love as light as a feather Sad eyes baby Its been such a long time Keep my heart breaking in the dark Come and spend the night... |
