Although the song could be directed towards John Mayer, but i doubt considering i havn't heared of any grudges or anything like that...I think it's just a name used in the song, like saying average joe, or like a quote like another 'tom or harry'....the songs about a man, who gets famous and makes a lot of cash. He just spends it all on material objects and forgets the true meanings in life and that....and then one day...it's all gone, all the stuff he ever boughts, and most importantly his heart and soul....kinda like a musician selling out you know... |

BEP sell out, what by having some really good songs appreciated around the world??...if thats sold out i think every band and musician would've sold out a long while ago...... Anyway i think this is an awesome song, the lyrics obviously pointing to guys drooling over a chick (FERGIE) saying that Fergie admits to using the guys that always tries to get with her?....then how many guys in other songs say the same thing about the chicks there getting?... The song is awesome, with really fun and cool lyrics.... My Humps, defiantly one of my BEP favourites. |

Back in the 80's there was different music and not so much crap there is now ( Music Still On MTV).....pretty much back in the 80's, 1985, there was good music and how a fan of this music just misses out on making it big and having to sum up to the real world- 'be an actress, dreams out the door when she turned 24..... 1985: it's about how theres so much crap on nowdays, reality TV shows, MTV- thats music? and how a whole sense and vibe for music and the now 'classics' just die out.... |

I Think maybe his dad died in september, and every year that goes by each september is just dreadful, making him feel like he just wants to sleep through it and not deal with the pain. First it's been seven years and then 20, and he just relalises that this happened such a long time ago Also I think since most of the songs on American Idoit have a political vibe to it, Wake Me Up When September Ends, might also have something to do with 9/11, and how much pain and suffering happened because of the world trade tower bombings. | |

| Elevator has nothing to do about WTC jumpers..firstly it refers to one person (Tom's Verse), it's also stated this happened at sunset..meaning it's getting darker (wrong time for '9/11'). Elevator is about someone committing suicide and another person watching him jump off a building...(I saw him, his shadow grew as it approched the ground)...It's two perspectives, the actual person jumping and some else who is the witness to the event....Again, nothing to do with 9/11....The term 'elevator' is just use to symbolise a tall high building..you know, everyone uses an elevator for skyscrapers or what not.... | |
