| Strangelove – Elin's Photograph Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Class song, sweet melody towards the end, surprised nobody has commented. | |
| Badly Drawn Boy – Donna & Blitzen Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Absolute belter of a song. "The initial warning is free" - a phrase I intend to use more often. | |

A brilliant, epic and emotive song. But what does it all mean? |

| They Might Be Giants – Birdhouse in Your Soul Lyrics | 20 years ago |

A great song with imaginative, funny lyrics. I especially like the cheeky canary's reference to a lighthouse as its primitive ancestor! There's obvious spiritual references ("make a little birdhouse in your soul") that could apply to any religious outlook (atheism included!). |

Bill Bones is Pete's nickname for Carl. The song is about London, and the difference between the positive forces at work on May Day and the negatives of your everyday baseball cap-wearing idiot. The "stylish kids in the riot" are, I think, the upper class young scallywags who joined in the May Day riots a few years back. (I remember one kid from Eton or Harrow who was expelled after he was shown putting in the windows at McDonald's!) Interesting interview with Pete about the May Day riots here: http://www.socialistworker.co.uk/article.php4?article_id=2937 |

| Pulp – Bar Italia Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| The song does indeed seem to be about a chilly come-down! The "only one place we can go" that's "round the corner in Soho" is indeed Soho's Bar Italia. (See http://www.baritaliasoho.co.uk) | |
