| Porcupine Tree – Even Less Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think this song is about two boys who grow up together. One becomes a complete burnout, and the other looks upon him with a feeling of helplessness, not wanting to see their best friend like that. It seems that the other friend dies even, because of the first stanza. | |

| I think this song is about a failing relationship where one of the people involved feels as if they're not the person that the other wants them to be. The whole song seems like a synical apology, as if to say "well gee, sorry I couldn't be the person you wanted me to, I am who I am" | |

It seems like this song is talking about a drunk driving accident late at night, and the effects it had on those involved. "Never stop the car on a drive in the dark" could mean that maybe in the story, someone had pulled over for some reason and was then hit by a drunk driver. The "mother's eyes" quote could mean that maybe a sibling of the person killed was asking their mother what happened, but they didn't really want to find out. "Final sound as a gun" could mean that it happened so fast it sounded like a gun going off, which is backed up the "smashing windscreen" line. The "did you ever imagine" line could mean that the person in the car wasn't killed instantly, and layed there fading out while their radio continued to play. The chorus could stand for a friend or family member, possibly lover, who's entire life revolved around this one person, and all of the sudden, they were gone. All of their plans for life were shattered and all of their dreams extinguished. I'd go into more detail, but I think you get the picture. |
