i defintietly think you misunderstood what i was trying to get at, high way...i know exactly what that lyric was implying, and i think its pretty ironic because its somethin along the lines of what you said...By saying that i thought it was raw, i wasnt trying to downplay the heaviness of that lyric-at the time i was strugglig for a word that to me best described it.... |

ok so i have a theory here, and bear with with me.. I honestly think that the window pane that she is refering to is a metaphor for actual pain..."As he went on and on, it wasnt the outside world I could see. Just the filthy pane that I was looking through..." among other parts if the song.... Id like some feedback, tell me what you think... |

I agree with whoever said this song means what you want it to mean. I cried myself to sleep listening to this song more times than I can count, because I applied it a certain never ending relationship. "I never leave you" or "I'll never hurt you" -SAVE THAT BULLSHIT!!!! I just love it when she says "You'll never see the courage I know." Its so powerful, its just saying(@ least I saw it like this) 'you cant even begin to imagine the things I have felt and the courage it takes to feel this way and you never will because your nowhere near my level...' |

"I keep letting you back in. How can i explain myself?" I cried listening to that lyric just last night. Unfortunately for my poor little heart, i know all too well how it feels to have someone prove to you time and time again that it will absolutely NEVER ever under any cicumstances be a healthy relationship worth fighting for, and still have so much love for that person. =( |

Wow...When I first heard this song, President Bush was the last thing i thought of. Maybe its my own warped, jilted mind but I really saw this a song about an abusive, almost sadistic relationship. "Somewhere between hapiness and sadness, I need to calculate what creates my own madness. Im addicted to your punishment and your the master and i am craving this disaster." You hate this person that you love to be punished by and letting yourself love the way it feels is getting away with murder...It sounded so much better in my head, i hope its understandable...;) |

The verses seem to be more about love and a lost relationship whereas the chorus is pretty self explanitory..."Im not bigger than life." And if I start to act that way, knock me down! Let me know...At least thats how I saw it... |

That first verse hits home...I have a kind, beautiful man in my life right now. He adores me and makes me feel like there is hope for love afterall. But unfortunately for him, the man in my life before him turned me into something hard to manage for a gentle soul such as himself. "I dont how to live without my hand on his throat- i fight him always and still oh darlin its so sweet, you think you know how crazy i am." I feel like 'its really nice that you want to stick and and love me but you really have no idea who i am.' |

| Third Eye Blind – Graduate Lyrics

Although i think of this song as graduate to higher self and not necessarily school, for the last 3 months of highschool, right up until the week before graduation, i had no idea if i would be walking the stage. I messed up really bad my sophomore year and paid for it royally my senior year. ( zero period, 7th period and niteschool alike) And if that wasnt enough, they gave me a real asshole as a "guidance counseler." She called me in to her office every single day without fail to tell me that i was not going to graduate and that I should start preparing my parents for that. I never doubted myself because i knew I was in the hole i was in because of me and i intended to get myself out and walk across that stage with my best friend, but it was a little disheartening to hear everyday how the person assigned to help me get through my senoir year really didnt believe in me. Anyway, i was listening to "graduate" one day ( and of course it wasnt the first time i had heard, i played the cd religiously) and damn near fell off my chair at "To the bastard talking down to me, your whipping boy calamity. Cross your fingers, im going to knock it all down." That evil bitch was handing out gowns for graduation that year and her jaw hit the floor when she saw me reach for one. =) |

I hate the fact that i cannot choose between this song and "thanks a lot" as my favorite third eye blind song. To be perfectly honest, i really am not not sure what the verses mean, but i was literally slapped in the face by "I never felt alone until i met you...I'd know what to do if i just knew whats comin...And i dont wanna call you but then i wanna call you cause i dont wanna crush you-but i feel like crushing you. And its true, i took for granted you were with me. I breathe by your looks and you look right through me." |

I guess you could say that at some point or another, everyone has felt a connection with Some part of them song. If you have ever been in love with someone who just refuses to do right by you (*ahem* ..Adrian..), you feel this song. My personal fave? " You seem very well. Things look peaceful. Im not qutie as well, i thought you should know. Did you forget about me, Mr. Duplicity...?" |

I think she is incapable of writing a bad song simply because she is writing about life experiences, and who cant relate to that? I also love the line "How to lie to yourself and thereby to everyone else/How to keep smiling when youre thinking of killing yourself." |

My senoir year in highschool, my best friend and I had an ad made in the back of the yearbook dedicated to the years (and years) of our friendship. It ends with this song. Im not sure how everyone else interpreted it, but be it to his fans or God or whoever, the song is a thank you to the person who was by his side, and thats why we put it on our page. =) |

I love this song and I really see it as realizing that the place you are in is because you put yourself there, and you will have to be the one one to get yourself out.
P.S. I have really hard time understanding why someone who doesnt like an artist is looking up the meanings to their songs...Is it just me or does that seem like a complete waste of time? ....That or a major front... |

| Matchbox Twenty – Last Beautiful Girl Lyrics

I sleep with my radio on at nite and occasionally, ill be awakened by a song. The night this song woke me up, i was half asleep but very clearly heard "The one that you wrecked wont take you back if you were the last beautiful girl." Of course, being a girl myself, I had to change the lyrics a little bit, but it fit my situation that i was going through (with a "not quite" bf, you know what that means...) at the time right down to the "Its over now and ive gone without cuz youre everyone elses girl.." To me this song about coming to terms with the fact that this person burned you, but knowing that its not the end. |

This is one of my favorite songs on Morning View simply because I feel so strongly about karma and that sort of thing. Given my current situation with my ex (real poison if you ever needed it...) the line "I saw you standing in my headlights, i thought i'd run you down for the weight you left on me. Instead I...reversed and drove away and seeing you disappear in my rearview brought to me the word reciprocity," hits home. Its so perfect- i wont even bother to sink to your level. Its better to just walk away. |

I can honestly say that for the first time ever, a song actually spoke to me. Ive really loved certain songs in the past (Iris by the goo goo dolls is my all time favorite, followed by vision of love by mariah carey at a close 2nd) but when i heard this song almost a year ago (Off the greatest hits album) i literally felt touched by the lyric "Dont give up to stay alive and even if you have to find the reason of anothers' pain if they lose you. If not for yourself, then those around who care like I do." It spoke to me. I didnt necessarily feel like Nick Hexum was singing to me or anything weird like that, but it really helped me see that even at my lowest point, i am loved by SOMEONE, you know? |

I agree with obsessed angel...it seems as though this song has been overlooked for some reason and it really is a great song. just based on the lyrics "By now ive shown you how much i believe in the here and now...lay all you want on me, i'll be your whipping boy," i take that to mean that "we've been here before and ive proven that I can take all that you can dish out." Maybe i see it as a bit of a love(/pain) song because im so in love with love...I can't remember who said it but i agree with whoever said that 'Drops of Jupiter' is a great breakup cd... |
