The Smashing Pumpkins – We Only Come Out at Night Lyrics 20 years ago
Everyone is entitled to their own interpertation, granted but I feel that the closest person to bring light to this song is TUSKIN. The overall tempo of this song is too whimsical, it is not meant to be taken too literal; it is about having fun and noting that life isn't that bad. I have a great VCD bootleg in which billy and d'arcy introduce this song as 'a pretty little ditty that we like to play.' I loved how Billy was happy as can be whilst singing this song, he swings his hands and says 'come on fuckers, sing along!!'

Take from the uncut version of Storytellers and in Billy's exact words "me as a boy is speaking to girl and saying 'let me give the world to you because obviously nothing else is going to fucking make you happy' and girls, you know what I am talking about"

Billy explained the essence of this song and how he wanted to put it on Machina but deterred from doing so because of some reason I can't remember. Anyways, he said this song was to all the females in relationships. From a male's perspective, they (men) can give women everything and still not be satisfied.

For those who said this song was about and for Billy's brother is correct. Now, in response to what y2doggy asks about the line "we won't belong," I remember reading somewhere that as children and as adolescents, Billy considered both himself and his brother as outcasts. Billy didn't belong because he was emotionally different from other children (i.e. he was always sad, etc) and his brother didn't belong for the obvious physical characteristics of his disease/illness.
