| Bright Eyes – I Believe in Symmetry Lyrics | 21 years ago |

this song reminds me a lot of a scale a mirror and those indifferent clocks. in that song its pretty obvious to me that logic has lead him to believe there is no god. however, in this song it seems to me that he is questioning this. "the second hand" seems to be referring to god here. in the next few lines, specifically this qoute from the song "if it seems like an accident - a collage of senselessness - you weren't looking hard enough. I wasn't looking hard enough at" shows me that he is debating whether there is a "supreme being" he cant fathom that this world is all an accident, "a collage of senseless" and admits he wasnt looking hard enough for the real answer which was the theory of creation. i know conor has talked about not believeing in god in previous songs but this is how i interpreted the lyrics |
