We don't "send the poor" because it's an all volunteer military, and when a person is enlisted the government takes care of the expenses so if you make 30-60k for a few years while serving, it won't really be spent on anything until you return...or it goes directly to your family, yatta yatta. My main point is that SOAD is lying. But as long as it's anti-Bush, lies are ok...such is liberalism. 8. The President doesn't fight the war because he/she is the supreme commander and it wouldn't make any tactical sense to put the highest leader in the greatest position of risk. If the president, the administration, congress, and the generals all went to fight, then there would be a greater risk of our leadership being killed, which would cause chaos among the lower ranks, which would lead to more people dying, which is not what we want. But it's pretty clear that SOAD doesn't care about peace or people getting killed, they just want to throw cheap shots at the president and at the US Government in general because that's trendy right now, MTv wants it, and you fools buy it. 9. Stop posting and go read some books. |

THE SONG IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ANTI WAR YOU LIBERALS. STOP TRYING TO SUCK THE LIFE OUT OF IT FOR YOUR AGENDA. It's more about the concept of futility, or how we can lead seemingly important and powerful lives only to realize in the end that is was for nothing. The "general" realizes that his real power would be to send his men home to save their lives though it would go against all of his military training. Any general can send a man in to battle, but only some can send them home in peace. I'm sure some abusive mod will ban me for scolding all the liberals in here that are blatantly using interpretations of this song for their agenda, but whatever, I speak the truth, so if you all can't handle that then I don't want to be part of a community where BIG BROTHER is really in control. IT'S CLEARLY NOT ABOUT 9/11 AND IT'S OBVIOUSLY NOT ABOUT COLUMBINE. Man, that is such a "publik" school interpretation. It's about "Fortress America" and the dehumanizing aspect of urban life.
