Straylight Run – The Tension and the Terror Lyrics 19 years ago
I'm going to do my best to interpret this song the way I see it as portraying.

The first verse is definitely about young love (or lust?) as portrayed in the descriptions of the surroundings and the conditions that surround the whole narration. Young love is like the eternal summertime that we have all longed for at one time or another... therefore, everyone is the same age. At the same time, he's very nervous around this girl, hense the tension and the terror. Overall, the first verse is easy to comprehend.

The chorus is easy... he's explaining why he loves or lusts for her. Case closed.

Second verse is a bit different. He starts off talking about how even broken communication means more to him than anything in the world. Then he makes a typical teenage statement; the statement of rebellion. "Whether we're supposed to or not, we still will.". After that he says they're better off than them, and that could be taken to mean that they think they have a better relationship and life than that of their peers.

The bridge is also self-explanatory. It also contains my favorite line of the song. "Sometimes I just can't explain all the ways you devastate me."

Overall, the song is about a young love. Yet, at the same time, I also gather it could be about a love that makes you feel young. A love that puts summertime into your heart and makes you feel infinite.

Yellowcard – Rough Landing, Holly Lyrics 20 years ago
It's definitely about a girl that the narrator can't forget.

I had the same situation and I'm starting to see it come back with one particular girl. I screwed up, she never went out with me, she went out with all these other guys, I spent four years moping, I found out she got engaged and I was basically forced to get out of it. Funny because right after, the relationship broke off and we started talking again. So now I can't let her go because I read her blog posting and she's sad... though she never went out with me, I care about her smiling because it's all a girl that beautiful should do. I'll admit that I'd love to be the one that helps her out of this funk and maybe have a chance to take her out and show her the love she wants and deserves... but if it doesn't happen, I understand that it will be necessary to move along.

Anyway, really great song though. Favorite on the album.

Israel Kamakawiwo’ole – Somewhere Over The Rainbow Lyrics 20 years ago
I thought it was a girl singing at first.

That said, beautiful voice. I don't hear this as a depressing song... I hear it as hope for a better future. The past kicks us down but we'll all get back up. It's never over until your in the ground.

RIP: BRUDDAH IZ!

Bryan Adams – (Everything I Do) I Do It for You Lyrics 20 years ago
I used to sit there and sing this as a kid... but as with his other song that I commented on, didn't know what it meant...

BRILLIANT SONG though.

Bryan Adams – Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman? Lyrics 20 years ago
Man, I wish I could play guitar like this.

Anyways, I remember when this song actually came out back in 1995 I think... it was one of my favorite songs and only now do I understand what the hell it means. I know that I have loved a woman by this definition.

Interesting fact that this is the third in a trio of huge hits from Bryan Adams... you had "Everything I Do...", "All For Love", and this. Other than that, his 90's career wasn't too great.

Grandaddy – The Crystal Lake Lyrics 20 years ago
Anybody think this song could have something to do with Lake Tahoe?

Lake Tahoe is 97% pure glacial water, therefore it could be called the "crystal lake"... and based on the fact that Grandaddy is from Modesto, it wouldn't be a stretch if this song was about Lake Tahoe, which is about three hours at MOST away from Modesto.

Also the duraflames signify a campfire... also the Italian leather is hot to wear in Tahoe and the Winter Games were held in Squaw Valley on the north side of the Lake.

To me, it all adds up to be about Tahoe.

Brand New – Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades Lyrics 20 years ago
The person above me is right. Sex is so fucked up.

It's seriously stupid... I had this exact type of thing happen to me last night... this song is like the anthem for that.

I went to this party with my friend and his girlfriend and the girl who was throwing the party was flirting with me majorly... about an hour and a half later we started making out and feeling each other up. About another hour later, I was in my boxer shorts and she pulled them down and started doing stuff. As much as I wanted to say that I didn't want to go that far, the words never came out. Everything just kind of went from there and now I feel like shit.

I am the guy in the song... I wish I could die right now. I wish I could "die young and save myself". Fuck, I hate myself.

Sex isn't great at all... it's just another thing until it's with the right person. That girl last night wasn't the right person.

God, I hate this bullshit.

Foo Fighters – Best Of You Lyrics 20 years ago
Okay, it seems the the Foo Fighters have actually started relating to me again.

I was a big fan since 1999, and I really loved their music. It somehow related to me and I just thought it was amazing... then I fell in love with a girl and consequently, that love started me to listening to weird and new music. That took me away from the Foo Fighters and on to music like Weezer and Ozma. Bands that really talked a lot about heartache... and now, three years later, the Fighters have released a song like this.

This girl took my faith and has left me in real pain... this song talks about that. I still do have to say that I like Weezer a lot more than the Foo but I will say that Foo has always and will continue to rock.

Weezer – The Damage in Your Heart Lyrics 20 years ago
How can I possibly talk about this song without mentioning that it is the first song since Pinkerton that has gotten me choked up?

Seriously, this song is the best new Weezer song in the near nine years since Pinkerton was released. The chords, the lyrics, the vocals; they're just perfect for each other and I feel that it creates a classic song... Rivers just seems to have his heart open throughout the whole record.

I didn't think that Rick Rubin would have this much effect, but to tell the truth, I think without Rick Rubin's guidance, we would have ended up with Maladroit Pt. 2. Meditation and Harvard seemed to have helped Rivers.

It takes a good song to be inspiring and amazing at the same time..... Rivers gave us one HELL of a good song... thank you Rivers for this great album.
