Considering the lyrics and the title, I think he wrote this song about losing ones virginity to the person you love the most on prom night. "when the sun came up we were sleeping in sunk inside our blankets sprawled across the bed and we were dreaming" That part definitely hints at it, and when he says "there are moments when I know it and the world revolves around us" describes the sacredness of sex to some people. It is a time when nothing else in the world matters more then what is going on at that moment in your life. Hence, "existentialism." And prom night being a traditional night for high school students to lose thier virginity reinforces the theory. I don't by any means think the songs lyrics should be kept completely in that context, but think that the lyrics are appropriate for any moment when the world seems to revolve around you. A first kiss, first love, etc...I think song has some of the most beautiful lyrics I have ever read, and the way it came together with all the instruments and vocals is really something. |
