| Paul Weller – Blink And You'll Miss It Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
|
It's about the changes you go through in life - you don't realise just how different you've become, because these changes happen so quickly. So if you "blink, you just might miss it". So true... |

Never mind that, what's with the wrong lyrics at the beginning? 'Western Union man?' Isn't it supposed to be 'Souness'? My dad told me they sang those lyrics because Graeme 'Souness' was the manager of Glasgow Rangers FC at the time, and that's the football team Wet Wet Wet support, so...
Listen to it. Honestly, it sounds nothing like 'Western Union man'. It's like 'Sooooouneeess' lol :P |

Yeah, I always hated this song but when I read the lyrics I thought 'what a waste, this would be so much better if it was sung beautifully'...turns out it is! Jessy's original version is so much better. :) |

Loved it the moment I heard it! It's so bloody catchy, it's great!
As for the lyrics, well all I can say is that Franz Ferdinand are quite good for doing confusing songs and this is a very good example of that. I think it's classic the way that their songs are weird :D |

I understand what all you people are saying about everyone else not giving much thought to the lyrics - I hate it when other people do that, myself - but I think that a song can basically mean what you want it to mean or it can bring back memories of happy times, etc - for me, it will always remind me of being a young girl. I have brown eyes and my dad used to sing it to me all the time, so I think of him everytime I hear it :) |

| The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics

I got this off The Killer's official website:
" “Mr Brightside” - a tale of jealousy that depicts that moment in a relationship when you realise that your other half might be playing away and this thought takes up residence in your psyche feeding the worst fears and visualisations your imagination can then throw at you."
That sounds about right to me :D |

This song was voted number 28 on the Greatest Number 1's of all Time on Channel 4...great song, I love it! My favourite part is "What you see is what you get, you've made your bed, you better lie in it" :D |

The chorus is basically the part where he tells this girl that he wants to do ABSOLUTELY everything with her - stand with her on a mountain, bathe with her in the sea, etc - it doesn't matter what, just as long as she is there with him :) |

| All About Eve – Blind Lemon Sam Lyrics

|
This is basically about a woman who had everything she could possibly wish for: a rich husband, wonderful children, a "house by the beach"...but she still isn't happy. She doesn't love her husband no matter how rich he is and loves another man instead - a poor man who can offer her nothing except his love. She leaves her rich husband and children for Blind Lemon Sam and her life becomes a lot happier...I think this song is basically trying to say that no matter how poor you and your boyfriend/girlfriend are, your love for each other will keep you strong and happier than you ever thought you could be...don't marry for money, basically, marry for love |

I love this song and the way it tells a story (just like all the songs from the Scarlet album) It's quite obvious what it's about...it gets you feeling sorry for the girl in the song :( |

And also, there is this advert on Scottish television for T in the Park (a festival that takes place every summer in Glasgow) where Franz are singing this song at the top of a tall building in Glasgow and all sorts of people are running towards this building just to see them and by the end of the advert there are more than a million people standing, jumping, dancing, singing or whatever around this building! It's so great but really hard to explain! I love it :D |

I think he wants to tell a girl how much he loves her but he knows that she will never return his love, no matter how long he waits for her : "I'm hanging on the wire; For a love I'll never find".

| The Jam – Down In The Tube Station At Midnight Lyrics

I think this song is a perfect example of all those songs out there that we listen to, think are good, but never actually try to understand the meaning behind them. I'll always remember my dad teaching me about these lyrics when I was younger, but naive as I was, I never payed him any attention. However now that I've grown older I've come to appreciate the words and the sound of the song and I just love it.
I wrote out the entire lyrics when I was bored in English class one day, because I found that I could analyse this song better than any poems I had ever read or learned about. And that is one of the many good things about this song - it reads just like poetry. The words affected me greatly, I found them very sad - especially when he speaks of his wife near the end. Great song.
And whoever said Weller was a genius, they were absolutely correct. His song-writing blows me away... |

I agree with bryan_420 - I heard her say the exact same thing when she was performing at a festival in England last summer. It's probably about her first love, her first time...
And did I mention I love it? :) |
