I think that this song is largely about things that you think will be good, actually turning out to be bad. "Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
is just a freight train coming your way". A 'soothing light' would usually be seen as something positive, but in this case, it actually turns out to be something he needs to run from. These lines are repeated over and over several times, giving a theme of renewing despair and a feeling that this person is being constantly let down. He has no luck ('no leaf clover') and dying hope due to this. |

Hell yeah! This is a classic punk anthem, all about doing what you want, being unique and disobeying authority. I saw Green Day live about month ago and they played this and it was absolutely fuckin' awesome! |

Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad is another intensely emotional song by Def Leppard, so many people can relate to it. It was one of the first songs I fell in love with when I bought the Best of album. The line, 'Did you ever try so hard that your world just fell apart' contains such concentrated emotion that is absolutely unmistakeable. It's one of my absolute favourite songs! |
