The Beatles – The Long and Winding Road Lyrics 18 years ago
Are you guys sure that Let It Be was recorded first? I heard that they recorded Abbey Road, sort of intending for it to be their last project together, but then they went in to wrap up some stuff on Let It Be. It was then, while they were recording, that Paul got pissed off because John and George had insisted on adding a whole bunch of instruments he felt were unnecessary to his songs without asking his permission. That's when he decided to quit, and everyone else followed suit.

--- Not quite right. What happened was that Phil Spector, a producer, was a major editing force in the song. When he went to edit it, the only Beatles member present was Ringo, and so Phil sort of went off his rocker and added an entire orchestra, choir, and horn section. Ruined the song, in my opinion. That sort of thing was for American motown groups, not The Beatles. Anyway, Paul got pissed when he found out what Phil did and cited it as one of the reasons for ending The Beatles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Long_and_Winding_Road

Chicago – 25 or 6 to 4 Lyrics 20 years ago
You know, what's WITH you people and your DRUGS?! You think every DAMN SONG ON THIS SITE IS ABOUT DRUGS. Granted, I know about the 60's, but I mean, still... that's not all the artists thought about, but it's apparently all YOU think about. I could say the Star Spangled Banner is about drugs because "the rockets red glare" is a reference to LSD. I could then make up a story saying it's some ghetto slang and that's why no one knows about it but me. Ta da. There's the song.

GET YOUR MINDS OFF THE DRUGS.

The Benjamins – Riverwest Creeps Lyrics 20 years ago
The Benjamins may not have much musical talent, but I really really like this song for some reason. I think it's basically about what the album it's on is titled: The Art of Disappointment

Lifehouse – Hanging By A Moment Lyrics 20 years ago
Yeah, I love how this site always turns into a debate forum. Get away from the religious discussions and personal attacks on the band and discuss the meaning.

I'd have to agree with everyone. I always thought it was about a girl, but now that you say it's about God, I would have to agree. But it's really confusing... it doesn't seem like a girl or God he's talking about... maybe he's talking about his sister ;)

RBF is the best band ever. 'Nuff said.

Reel Big Fish – Down In Flames Lyrics 20 years ago
In my opinion, this the best RBF song musically. The lyrics are great too. They're a bit cynical about their future but they still have hope. They're afraid that the ska fad will "go down in flames." Later, when they "blow over", the "main stream" will "cough up another shell", or another fad, and they'll be carried downstream and cease to exist.

Pearl Jam – Bushleaguer Lyrics 20 years ago
"Born on third, thinks he got a triple."
This is my favorite lyric of all time. Presidents like Bush are born into rich families with histories of political power and many corporate connections. The lyric means that Bush was born into this kind of family but he thinks it makes him better and right. In fact, many actions of the Bush administration reflect sympathy for large corporate companies... consolodating them and such... read about the Enron scandle. However, I don't want to have a political discussion. Let's just focus on the music. Nice beat, catchy guitar riffs...

Fleetwood Mac – Landslide Lyrics 20 years ago
Scary bit of information, I heard this song in a dream that I had, clear and simple. I had heard it before, the dixie chicks version, but I woke up and found it was Fleetwood mac! This song is about growing up and yes, I know that it is dedicated to Stevie Nick's father.

And as for you, hpw101, you can be funny, but get your mind off the subject of anal sex, since that's obviously all you can think about. People, be serious here or don't post... [/Scrappy is a hypocrit]

Creed – What If Lyrics 20 years ago
I myself heard that Creed did this song for the "Scream 3" sound track. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Only part I hate is how repetitive he is at the end with "What if..."

Creed – Faceless Man Lyrics 20 years ago
Mark Tremonti is my favorite guitarist of all time.

Chosen1, you are dead on. However, when he says "'Cause if the face inside can't see the light", he's speaking about himself and his own conscience, for as people have said, God does not forsake his children, it is a matter of whether or not we welcome Jesus into our souls.

Creed – Wash Away Those Years Lyrics 20 years ago
newfoundfinch and myownprison, this site is Song Meanings, not Personal Burning World. Such flaws of man, such violence, such typical of the male gender. However, I am not here to preach.

This song could be about any wrongdoings inflicted on any person, particularly rape or domestic violence, it has a great message, however I think Scott Stapp sings in too much of a monotone.....his voice is okay, but he always seems stuck in one very, very small octave.

Creed – What's This Life For Lyrics 20 years ago
Manker, thank God for you.

LISTEN, people. This isn't a site where you discuss your damn religious beliefs. Go to a site that's intended for it. This is SONG MEANINGS, not RELIGIOUS DISCUSSIONS. I mean, if religion is so great, why do people become so violent over it. God teaches us to embrace each other and our differences... even if they don't believe in him, or at least that's what I think.

As for the song, I agree with the people who say it's about suicide. However, I think it has a broader meaning, for anyone who is philisophical about the world, like me. Anyone who questions how the world was created would like this song.

Billy Joel – Piano Man Lyrics 21 years ago
To nails in my feet (on the previous page):
Yet another ass like you who thinks every song is about gayness, drugs, and sex. Either you're having a really bad joke or you've taken a severe blow to the head. I've never even heard of the navy being associated with homosexuality, and he wouldn't write an entire song about that. Here's some advice: EITHER STOP MAKING BAD JOKES OR GET TO A PSYCHOLOGIST WHO CAN FORCE YOU TO STOP THINKING ABOUT GAYNESS.
To me, this song is about broken dreams that were never nourished and never got off the ground. So these people are wasting away from booze in the bar, crying about what could've been.

Creed – Higher Lyrics 21 years ago
Listen. This song TO ME is about Heaven. It's obvious. "To a place where blind men see" - Jesus opening blind men's eyes "To a place with golden streets" - Heaven's golden streets. He also sings about how he would like our world to change. To anyone who says this song is about drugs-you're probably on drugs yourselves. You could say *ANY* song is about drugs. The thing is, it's just too easy to make drug or sexual references to ANYTHING. Not every band out there is full of pimps and druggies. Who cares if Creed is hypocritical about the beliefs they express in this song? At least they ARE singing about it. Makes all those who believe in this sort of stuff happy. So, let's recap- This song is *NOT* about drugs-damn all of you who think it is, like I said, YOU must be on drugs if that's all you can think about. Other than that, this song is COMPLETELY UP TO HOW *YOU* INTERPRET IT. It's not about any one thing. You people make me sick that way.
