First off, I gotta say that when I first heard this song, I didn't exactly like it. I liked the chorus (everybody's going to the party), but it wasn't exactly my favorite song. After my friend made me listen to it over and really listening to the lyrics, I gotta say that this is one of my fav SoaD songs ^^; Now, about politics. We can never truly have an un-biased opinion, as there are so many different views pooled into one. Frankly, I agree with most of the points made in this song. Here's my take on the war. Wars are horrible, plain and simple. They bring death and destruction, and humans were not meant to kill each other (as shown with Post Traumatic Syndrome in many soldiers). Something truly must be off-kilter to enjoy watching other humans die. There really is no glamour in killing another human being. Either you have to be really brave or really stupid to be able to stomach taking another person's life in a war. The people over there ARE human, after all. I think that's what the government doesn't take into consideration. We're human. We live and die, yes, but that doesn't me we won't come out unscathed. We see the fallen heros on the news, whose families are wracked in grief over their lost loved ones, yet they don't show it about citizens in Iraq who have lost loved ones over a US soldier killing them. The way people, media, and government alike treat it makes it seem like it all happens to us and doesn't effect anybody else outside the US. Frankly, I think anybody who volunteers for the war is brave, who is willing to die to keep us safe. I know I could never do that. I can't even imagine taking another human being's life, except in self defense. I also agree, though, that the government uses money to lure some people in. Money does make the modern world go round, as much as people hate to admit it. Most people wish wars didn't happen. Sometimes we have to fight though, as much as we don't want to. If we didn't fight the revolutionary war, we would be under british rule. If we didn't fight the civil war, we would be a divided country. If we didn't fight in WWII, we would be under a communist government. I'm not saying those things would have happened for sure if we didn't fight those wars, but it's a big BIG possibility. In my opinion, I think if he have to fight any wars, it should be in the taliban. They have had known history of attacking, and they have attacked us, causing many American's grief. Whereas in Iraq, while Saddam should've been taken out in Desert Storm, isn't in our priority. If they have supposed weapons, well, we might as well go to war with North Korea, but we're not. Why? What's the difference? We know they have nuclear weapons, and there is worries that Kim (if I remember correctly) will use them against us. We weren't certain that Saddam did have nucleur weapons. And now that we have started this mess, we need to clean it up. For all the sacred monuments we have destoryed, we pay. For all the lives that have been lost, we pay. We are already trillions of dollars in debt. Now, back to the song, I really like the chorus. People glorify war, plain and simple. People think war is a great party and that only us is affected. No matter how hard you want to stop it, lies get spread by those above us, whether by the media, the government, or even our parents. They may not be aware that they are feeding us lies, either. Such is the nature of things. Well, I shall stop as I have rambled quite a bit ^^; And kudos for Thru7being7Cool for posting such a though provoking comment ^^ |

Wow, I cannot believe nobody has commented on this song! I haven't heard many of Anggun's other songs, but this one is absolutely gorgeous! I think it's about somebody loving somebody else with all their soul, even though they do not return the feeling. They have tried to move on, but even so, they wonder why rejection always happens to them. They look to the rose as comfort, as it stands for meanings from happiness and love to death. I absolutely love this song and it has helped me through many times in my life. |

I think this is about somebody who was in some sort of abusive relationship (the song implies with a guy, but I'm taking it as any sort of it). The person is absolutely sick and tired of it. She runs from the person who is abusing her. When the abuser comes crawling back to her, begging for forgiveness, she remembers all the wrongs he gave her, but she still can't completely hate him. "You'll drop another line On someone else's time But in me you still resound" This line represents on how the abuser is going onto another person, but the abused won't stand to see it done to another person. That, or when somebody does anything that remotely like the abuser, she gets paranoid and runs away. This relates a lot to a problem I had with a supposed good friend of mine. I ended up in an abusive relationship, as I would apparently do something to upset her and she would drop me, then pick me up as a friend. I finally had enough of it and just left her. I can't really forgive her for what happened, but I can't completely hate her either. |
