I agree with the November Rain references, but it's in a good way, unlike some other songs that are blatant rip-offs of other songs (for example, Bitter End - Sum 41 is almost an exact, shorter duplicate of Battery - Metallica, ditto with Are You Gonna Be My Girl - Jet copying Lust for Life - Iggy Pop). I'd also like to make a point of saying that I love this album, but it took me a long time to like it. I, unfortunately, and of this fact I am ashamed, was one of those who listened to Waking the Fallen so religiously that I could not stand the change they undertook to make this album. So for any of you who still feel that way, look into this album, and give it time, you'll love it. It's a weird situation, because if I had heard this album before any other of theirs, I probably would have loved it from the get-go. But change is hard, I suppose. Now, I can't get enough of it, and Seize the Day is probably one of my favorite songs, with seemingly endless possibilities of becoming a classic. |

That wasn't a direct shot at you, callmemichael, because from the looks of your profile you have a very profound musical taste and hey, you might even be a teenager. It might have even been sarcastic, and there's nothing I like better. It was more of my opinions on some of the thoughts posted on here that would give the general impression that these two bands suck because they don't have the legendary status of a Bowie or Queen. I like the song, both versions, and the song had a distinct effect on me. And that's what music should be about. |

"so suck on that, teenyboppers." Why, because anyone that likes these bands must be a teenager right? I'm getting sick and tired of people who try to act like anything new in music is inferior to everything that came before it. I respect and love most older music, because I think the best music withstands the tests of time, and because I believe it is important to listen to influences of bands you like to get a well-rounded picture of what the band is trying to do. Also, it would only make logical sense that you would like a band that a band you like already liked at one time. (Take some time to wrap your head around that one, sorry.) People seem to forget that bands were "current" at one point, the same way bands are today. Please give music the respect it deserves and don't judge the people who listen to new music, especially by making the judgement that a teen can't have a vast knowledge or appreciation of the music of the past, and can still look forward to the future or rock music. |

| I should also mention that the studio version of the song was made available for purchase on iTunes today. Think about buying it, not only because it's a fantastic song, but because it is for a great cause. | |

I attended the Taste of Chaos tour when it made it's stop in Saskatoon, and I'd just like to point out that these two bands absolutely destroy live and if you ever get the chance to see either of them, I reccomend it fully. The concert was amazing, and The Used had just exited the stage when the chants of "one more song, one more song" started to ripple through the floor. No one was leaving, and then for the two bands to show up on stage at the same time drove me and the rest of the adrenaline-fueled crowd wild. As Gerard broke into his "this song was originally recorded by Freddie Mercury and David Bowie..." I grabbed my dread-lock mopped friend and starting yelling with what little voice I had left "UNDER PRESSURE! OH MY GOD IT'S UNDER PRESSURE!!" I think they did choose to cover this song because of their anti-homophobia, as bullets&love cleverly pointed out. Need proof? As Bert and Gerard made their way to the front of the stage, Bert grabbed Gerard's face in both hands and planted a big one right on his lips. Not to mention that Bert thinks the song is "f-cking amazing!" This song is an important one none the less, and so is the fact that it's being covered by The Used and My Chemical Romance. It's great to see bands that support the "Music for Relief" charity for the tragedy in Asia. It's also important on a musical level, because it's starting to mark the time where collaborations can be made between great bands that have something to say, play great live music, are friends with one another, and are downright cooler than rap artists and pop musicians. These bands, and many others, are starting to mark a new generation of popular music among teens and others alike, and I was glad to be a part of a special moment that was this song. |
