Well...just saw the video and now I can definitely see where all the hostility comes from. That's a pretty messed up video. And the girl has got a bit of a devilish smile. So, I guess everybody hates her because of this video, right? I saw her on Late Night with Craig Ferguson the other day and she said how much the British hate her. Are her videos the reason? Or what? Honestly though, none of this really keeps me from liking the song. I'm just a little scared of Lily Allen now. |

Now, I may be completely and obliviously dense here, but I really don't see where all the hostility over this song is coming from. Listening to the song and looking over the lyrics, I still see this as nothing more than a bitter break up song. I have yet to spot anything violent in the lyrics and I really don't see how this ties into the "youth cultural" thing. Now, keep in mind, I also haven't seen the video, so you all are one up on me there. But honestly, the song only sounds like this girl was messed up completely by some shmuck who cheated on her, and can only laugh at him when he claims he wants her back, because she's still so messed up by it. And I really don't see the shallowness in that. If someone pulled that shit on me, I would never give them another chance. Can somebody please explain all this to me? |
