I think the song is about a man going to war, and from an outside observer, it seems so much like just another movie. He gives his wife a goodbye kiss, she watches him through the window as he walks away, as their child cries. Their bed is now not as full as it was. "the use of forge" could mean fighting with weapons, and his wife is getting tired of waiting for him, shes had enough, weary from battle, he loses his will, and dies. the next verse shows that he was a man, just an average man, like many before him. Then all the people mourning the loss of their loved ones, eyes upraised, babbling with vacant looks. Then the image of death on a white horse, as the memory of the mans life fades with the setting of the sun. |

| You can''t really look at pantera lyrics and say they advocate religion though. Read Heresy. The metal that IS christian loses much of its power when it pushes (either implicitly or explicitly) religious agendas. Pantera doesn't write they're lyrics as a way to say "Dont be religious", its more like "Dont force your religion on me". | |

To me, it sounds like the part from Oedipus Rex when tiresias refuses to tell Oedipus the truth, because he knows that it will bring his demise. Fits perfectly with the song. |

| it starts out with a bunch of things that are hard to understand, but you can pick a few out, like "save your backwash...." "its a drag" .then it changes into more understandable things that are meant to be "inspirational", but up harming someones mental health in the long run, like "you should get out more.....You better think about your future....you should go to the doctor...." then repeats "smoke this" a few times and ends with "hand it over" | |
