I believe this song is about an internal struggle, possibly with a mental illness/paranoia. "Shot down by strangers whose glances can cripple the heart and devour the soul... " Is referencing paranoia about what others think about him, or possibly being judged. "All alone he turns to stone while holding his breath half to death! Terrified of what's inside to save his life he crawls like a Worm from a Bird!" Shows how he has no where and no one to turn to. It makes a reference to feeling like a stone, which could be talking about the apathy or lack of emotion one feels. It shows the fear associated with developing or having a mental illness, and not having control. "Whispers of...(just keep working...just keep working...im terrified)" Mentions how they keep trying to move forward with their life normally, but they can't ignore what's happening to them. "Out of his mind the weight pushes him whispering: "Must have been out of his mind..."" The'weight' may be referring to stress, or stress caused by paranoia and delusions. And they quote may be what he thinks other people are thinking (or what they are actually thinking, or an internal dialogue. "Mid-day delusions of pushing this out of his head, maybe out of his mind.. (out of his mind hehehehe)" May mean he's dreaming of not being like this anymore, and an obvious reference to delusions. I think the music video supports my above observations as well, since the majority of it he seems to be facing a reflection of himself. Additonally the band members appear, but acting strangely and some in scary costumes, which indicates delusions and paranoia. But that's just my take. ^.^ |
