Well crafted dark lyrics about death, in a not all to cheesy way. I just LOVE when this song at one point goes over into the stunningly beautifull melody (after the lyric bit 'In a deathlike silence I chamber my soul'), the lead guitar that comes in then to add to the layers of music, ack, I can't discribe the feeling I get at this bit. It's one of those few bits of music that seems to truely capture the feeling of intense joy, of having overcome a great burden in life (or death maybe in their case ;-)) |

Agreed with person above me, this is one of my favorite songs off of the Prometheus album. It just showcasts all that Emperor represents and has accomplished musicly, giving a huge variaty in tempo, brutality, tranquility, screamed vocals, clean vocals etc. A truely beautifull song. |

I think it's a great song, and I love how it goes over into MoP on the Symphony and Metallica album, as if it was meant to be that way :) I play the P&P roleplaying game Call of Cthulu, and it's insane, haunting etc, the feeling this song gives :) |

Hmm, weird no-one has commented on this song, it was Deads last lyrics, which were with his suicide not which Euronymous found. Probebly the last thoughts that went through his mind before he blew his brains out, which make them so freaky, yet very true and sencire. |

This cd was a spoof, it was meant as a parody on the norwegian black metal scene in the early nineties (this came out in 1994) so you don't need to take the lyrics very seriously. I mean, the guys allias in Anonymous, a clear parody on Mayhems Euronymous. |

The song as has been said is James dealing with his mothers death, and probebly a lot of other frustrations based around that that came up when she died. So it's as has also been said not necisarily only about his mother, but about the subject in general and his frustrations with it. |

I love this song, very powerful, and it\'s so powerful that I think it has to be about much more than a breakup, more like loosing someone very very close to you, like a good friend, husbands, brother, parent etc.
For the rest I think the band is overrated though and like Nightwish a good deal better in general. |

MoP is about drugs, that\'s quit obvious, though you could give it other meanings for yourself but it was written about drugs. I think the cover of the album MoP is referring to the song Disposeble Heroes which is much more about that. |

newfoundfinch, that comment makes no sence since this album was 3 albums before the black album......
They had KEA, RTL (where this comes from), MoP, AJFO and THEN the black album, this was their second full length, the black album their fifth.
Besides that I think this is the most beautiful/emotional song they\'ve written, simply stunning, right along side One. |
