I think these lyrics go a bit deeper ... a bit more specific. It's about the ongoing holy war between the Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindu and Buddists. Probably, mainly just the Muslims and Christians over Jerusalem. The song mentions a tug-o-war and what the band means by cutting it right in two is the figurative "rope" or land that is always being fought over. Perhaps in a way they are saying just build a wall and seperate you two already because obviously you can't get along and probably never will. I agree with what most of the people before me have stated as well.

Christ can only help those who want to be helped. Obviously we don't need no fucking help. We are beyond his healing. So we must "knock it down" dismantle and corrode this organization of Christianity. Perhaps we will evolve to a point where we can" kill with simple will" and that war will be the final war. We don't want this bullshit. We don't need this threat of judgement because our sins are our own.

This song is about lack of communication. What is the shittiest subject of all to talk about? What is the ONE subject you can talk to ANYONE about? The weather. The weather is changing, time is going by. And all the person wants, is for you to mention something ... anything. I don't care what you're talking about, even if it's the fucking weather. This is a lonely person. Not Maynard.
