| The Weakerthans – Left and Leaving Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is one of the few songs that have really made me cry. I remember listening to it on a plane ride back home for Thanksgiving and while it could be about a lot of things, I think the main theme is going back to your hometown. The post above me said it well. | |
| Arcade Fire – Intervention Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I'm not entirely sure what this song is about but I love this part: "Say it’s money that we need As if there were only mouths to feed And knowing no matter what you say There’s some debts you’ll never pay" We can't just keep throwing money at impoverished places like Africa, or sending over tons of food, because there is something fundamentally wrong going on over there. Feeding people helps, but doesn't fix much; big changes need to be made. And even if/when these countries pay off their debts (or their debts are forgiven), they're still going to have tons of problems. |

| Bad Religion – Get Off Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Well, I know that Bad Religion tend to have complex lyrics, but when I hear the words "get off" the first I think of is getting off sexually. I mean, look at the chorus... "Every time I look at you, I just want to do it, I can clench my fist right through it But I just want to get off" And this line here makes me think that he wants to become gay...? "But I am damned to find a way To revolve the other way" Again, it's weird to think this about a BR song, but ever since the first time I heard this song this was my interpretation of it. |

| Against Me! – Those Anarcho Punks Are Mysterious... Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I think this song is about how black and white some radicals think. "It's so much less confusing when lines are drawn like that, when people are either consumers or revolutionaries, enemies or friends" It's easier for them to place people it two separate catergories; with us or against us. "all of the sudden people start talking about guns, talking like they're going to war. cause they've found something to die for." Now the radicals are getting really serious and are even talking about guns, but do they really fucking get? No no no... |

| Against Me! – Pretty Girls (The Mover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| ^^ Where it says "correct lyrics" it should say, "I just want to be young, I want to live." | |
| Against Me! – Pretty Girls (The Mover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
When I first heard this song, I thought that it was strange that Against Me was singing about something as simple as girls, since their songs are usually not so shallow. Looking at the lyrics more, and it may be a stretch, but it sounds like it's about a guy who has a disease like HIV (or another STD) and can't develop relationships with women because he'll be forced to tell them what's wrong with him. “But if she says yes know what intentions might be. If one thing leads to another and there's some chemistry. You cannot lie, you have to tell the truth. You have to explain why this could never be, because you have to tell the truth you have to explain why this could never because” As things start to get more serious he realizes that he must tell her the truth about his condition and why they can’t hook up. “there are things that cannot be undone there are mistakes that will never be forgiven" His mistake is unprotected sex (with multiple partners... hmmm...) Next: correct lyrics god i wanna be healthy i don't want this problem you wouldn't think something like (sexual) irresponsibility would complicate something like asking for some company" The album's booklet has (sexual) in front of irresponsibility. Self-explanatory, the guy just wants to be healthy and the disease has left him unable to even get a bit of company from a girl. The next part says that he has to accept what has happened, and I don’t know what the last part is talking about. I’d hate to start rumors, but hopefully this song and the song “Searching for a Former Clarity” are just Tom’s overactive imagination, or maybe contain some other meanings that have gone over everyone’s heads. |

| A Day in Black and White – Foward / Backward Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song seems to be about someone's innocence and hometown not being the same as it used to be. | |
| Against Me! – You Look Like I Need a Drink Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I also think that the guy in the song spent a night with a girl and then killed her. The line "get up, get up, please start breathing" really shows his desperation and regret over what happened. | |
