| Haha, I'm not entirely sure, but it seems to be about having sex. About two very young, unexperienced people having sex. | |

| One of the few lyrics that Lou Barlow wrote in the band. He is truly a lyrical genious. | |

I definately agree with "powertrash", there's no other way of seeing it. The ending is sweet though "Sometimes I don't thrill you Sometimes I think I'll kill you Just don't let me fuck up will you 'Cause when I need a friend it's still you What A Mess " |

| It's really simple, direct and painful, and the fact that Mascis wrote it and made Lou sing it is pure sadomasochistic genious. | |
| Nirvana – Something in the Way Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| One of my top-3 favourite Nirvana songs. My personal take on the song is a bit like "Black_Stripe_Red"'s. That it's about someone (we can call her/him J) wanting to hide away from someone/something really fast and looks around for somewhere to hide. J is very sad and wants to get away from everything. And when J sits in her/his solitude she/he starts to notice her/his surroundings, registers them and sings of them in a very objective and distant way, but they still kind of symbolize her/his mood, so they become sort of personal. I think that the line "It's ok to eat fish 'cause they don't have any feelings" is a very personal and painful line coming from Kurt, because his star sign was pisces, and his feelings at the very moment was, alike "J"'s, that he felt abused. In Kurt's case it was maybe media, fans and so on, and in J's case it was maybe family, friends, or just a unexplainable feeling. J feels that she/he is "Something in the way" of other people, life etc., or that there is "Something in the way" of her/him being able to lead a normal life. | |
