Snow Patrol – Grazed Knees Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this is a pretty ambiguous song as far as meanings go, but either way it's goddamn sad!

Beautiful, but heartbreaking - *sniff* gets me every time!

Especially love that last line - it's so true! Whenever you have an argument with someone you care about, you ALWAYS end up being so desparate just to get back to normal that whatever you were fighting about seems insignificant in the face of how much you miss them.

Snow Patrol – You Could Be Happy Lyrics 17 years ago
It's just heartbreaking!
The guy's looking back at his last relationship and missing the girl like hell and dealing with a ton of regrets. And the worst thing is, he has no clue if she's actually perfectly happy without him. Poor guy!!!

My Chemical Romance – I'm Not Okay (I Promise) Lyrics 18 years ago
What does whether "Emo's" (notice how I use inverted commas!) are cool or not have to do with the song?!

Poor My Chemical Romance having one of their songs turning into a random argument - I mean bless him - if you look at the actual song in question, the guy looks kinda unhappy as it is! He even promises that!

It's just so sinister and awesome!

Snow Patrol – Wow Lyrics 18 years ago
Yeah, the words "my role in this mess is not something that I can be proud of" does suggest that the guy did something wrong, but in general I think it's just a really happy song about realising what you have ("everything we have is all we need"), caring less about what others think of you ("means there's no-one watching as we leave"), Moving on ("with the sun on your face all these worries will soon disappear, just follow me now") and worrying less about technicalities in all kinds of relationships ("If it looks like it works and it feels like it works then it works")

Either way I love it - it's all cheery ans carefree and summery!

The Zutons – Valerie Lyrics 18 years ago
Such a damn cute song!

When you listen to his little voice in this song you'd never think this guy was capable of singing the words "I chain you up/I make you mine/I keep you locked downstairs..."

Now THAT's what you call a wide creative scope!

The White Stripes – The Denial Twist Lyrics 18 years ago
What a song! Best bit has to be...

"So now you're mad, denying the truth
And it's getting in the wisdom in the back of your tooth
Ya need ta spit it out, in a telephone booth
While ya call everyone that you know, and ask 'em
Where do you think she goes"

It'sall quirky n clever n such!

God damn catchy musical accompaniment too.

Colin Hay – I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You Lyrics 18 years ago
*Scared face* I don't wanna fall in love! Dear God I NEVER want to feel like that! Seeing the comments of other people who do just makes it even more God Damn Scarey! It makes it real! Oh My God!!!

Wow... that's a lot of blasphemy for a little person... but you can see why! This song is beautiful, but it's chilling!!! It makes me want to hide in my room and keep the world OUT!

I think the lines
"But I don't want you thinking I don't get asked to dinner
'Cause I'm here to say that I sometimes do"
are the most heart-wrenching. This song is NOT a good advertisement for falling in love!

Well, must dash, I have an online dating membership to cancel...

(that IS irony by the way!)

Cher – I Got You Babe Lyrics 18 years ago
Why the hell has this song not got any comments prior to mine?! It's a classic!!!

I love everything about it - the lyrics are adorable, and the music is all jangly and 60's-like (that's technical terminoligy you don't see every day ladies and gentleman!)

Watching them perform it as a duet is even cuter - Cher ruffles Sonny's hair as she sings the line "Let them say your hair's too long..."

I guess you have to have seen it...

Arctic Monkeys – Fake Tales of San Francisco Lyrics 18 years ago
I know this is geting old now, but I tried to submit this song ages ago too!

I love it - it's so funky!

Oh, and for the love of ntwjones, fine! You win! The British Indie/Rock scene IS "fundamentaly trying to be American." If only we could get our rock stars to stop thinking that they're from...I dunno... San Fransisco, and remind them that in realiy they come from a small British town - like Rotheram for example.

Y'know what - If you feel that strongly about it, you should write a song about it! Just be quick, you don't want to be beaten to it by a bunch of pesky british indie kids...

The Beatles – Revolution 1 Lyrics 18 years ago
I love this song!
I think it's really interesting as a snapshot in time - written in 1968 it perfectly sums up the political mood of the late sixties/early seventies.

I wish I could stop sounding like a sad 30-year-old when I leave comments...

Billy Preston – With you Im born again (ft. Syreeta) Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is about being so in love with someone that they make all of the things in the past that you regret seem insignificant.

"With you I'm born again" - pretty much self-explanitary!

Fab love song.

The Beatles – I Want to Hold Your Hand Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is so cute!
It's innocence is unbelievably endearing!
How sweet is the guesture of asking to hold someones hand?!

So cheery too - definitely one of my favourite songs by the beatles.

By the way, what is with the negativity coming from some people? Why bother taking the time to leave a comment on a song if you don't like it?!
Everyone has songs that they dislike, but isn't it so much more ocnstructive to enjoy the ones you do like rather than needlessly insulting the former?

Travis – Flowers In The Window Lyrics 19 years ago
"Wow, look at you now
Flowers in the window
It's such a lovely day
And I'm glad that you feel the same
'Cos you stand up, out in the crowd
You are one in a million,
And I love you so, let's watch the flowers grow"

I love those lyrics! They're relaxed, happy and incredibly sweet! There's also something stable and secure about them.

Considering Paul McCarteney helped Fran out with the lyrics (thank you jitka!) you wouldn't really expect anything less than an amazing song though.

The Verve – The Drugs Don't Work Lyrics 19 years ago
This song makes me cry!
It didn't surprise me when I found out that Richard Ashcroft wrote it about his dying father - it's always made me think of terminal illness and bereavement.

My favourite line is: "And if you want a show, just let me know and I'll sing in your ear again." The idea of Richard Ashcroft actually doing that is so sweet and sad - especially seeing as his huge success is music-related - something that his father would have been especially proud of.

I like the ending too - it's the light of hope at the end of the songs depressed tunnel.

Athlete – Wires Lyrics 19 years ago
I didn't know it was about his baby, but that maks sense. I thought it could be a reference to a suicide attempt with the line "there's dry blood on your wrist." I agree with festivalchick though, I think anyone who's had one of their loved ones in hospital can relate to it.

I love it! The feelings in it sound so sincere. There's something i the way he sings it that shows that he's truly experienced that situation. When you can clearly tell that a song means something to the artist, it gives it some extra quaility. It's probably because it makes them

Rooster – Angels calling Lyrics 19 years ago
I think that this song is about someone who has to leave someone behind on the road to success. The "Angels" that he can hear calling to him are the angels of his dreams - what he has wanted all of his life. The "somewhere" he has to be could be the place where he has to travel to in order to achieve his dreams. He doesn't want to leave this girl behind ("don't think that this is easy"), but he knows that she will be ok without him ("you'll be fine") . He also wants her approval - when he says "if you believe, say a prayer for me", he is saying to the girl if she beleives in him, and believes that he is capable of achieving whatever it is that he is leaving for, he wants her to hope that everything works out for him. I think it's such a sweet song, and I also think that he's very brave - I don't think that I could leave a relationship that special for many things

I LOVE THIS SONG!

I know this sounds cheesy, but it's so romantic! It shows how incredibly powerful love can be. Quite scary, come to think of it...!

Colin Hay – Beautiful World Lyrics 19 years ago
I love it!
I think it's about recognising that there are serious issues in the world, and being aware of global problems, but trying not to dwell on them and but trying to find the little things that make you happy so that you can still manage to enrich your life in spite of them.

It's put across so simply that you can't help but feel affected. Love the music too!

I know what popppy n means!
This song (like so many others - you know how it is!) really reminds me of one person, and I'm sure that even when I am ''over'' them it will still always remind me of them.
Its interesting to listen to it now, and wonder about what I will make of it, and the feelings it invokes in me now, years into the future.

The title of this song made me chuckle, but after reading its lyrics I don't find it as funny.

Louis Armstrong – What A Wonderful World Lyrics 19 years ago
I ageee with you completely n3odi!!!
Everytime i haer this song i instantly see starving children, corrupt authourity figures, and environmental demise. I also think about the billions of lonely. isolated individuals in the world - something far more chilling than any statistic.
It still is a beautiful, hope inspiring song, however - maybe it is just trying to show that there are still beautiful things in the world, aside from the devastation, and all you have to do is live day by day and search for the little things that make you happy.
I'm starting to sound cheesier than the song!

Robbie Williams – Come Undone Lyrics 19 years ago
I thnk that the line:
"They're selling razor blades and mirrors in the
street"
is a really sad reflection on society.
The first thing that it makes me picture is an insecure teenage girl sat infront of a mirror, holding a razor blade and punishing herself for her reflection. She bought them both from the same "street", showing that society not only gives people the motivation to pull themselves to pieces and torture themselves, but also the means to.

Jamie Cullum – Blame It On My Youth Lyrics 19 years ago
This is one of the saddest songs I'be heard, espcially the lines:
"I believed in everything
Like a child of three".
It just goes to show how much strong feelings of love/infatuation/confusion can strip away your innocence and leave you feeling very cynical.

Jamie Cullum – All At Sea Lyrics 19 years ago
his song is amazingly relaxing - it allows you to float away to a disused area of your mind where nothing can reach you. Its a fantastic medium of escapism.
