Lyrics taken right from ETS looks like. First comment cuz I'm a whore I love the chorus...not too keen on the way the lyrics flow in the verses though. Can't wait to hear it in the context of Year Zero in its entirety, and in good quality for that matter. |

This song is amazing. I hope that the performance for the relief show is a sign of things to come that are more in the same vein as "Still." That remains one of my all time favorite albums, and I'd love if Trent would rework some more tunes like that material, and create songs like this. It's very intimate and emotional. It almost could fit somewhere on The Fragile (left) right around The Great Below. Content-wise it seems oriented between the latter part of the left Fragile and much of With Teeth. For those of you still harping on NIN for WT, does this satisfy you? |

I'd be beating a dead horse if I were to discuss what I think the song means, as I'm with the majority who believes that it's political. What I did feel compelled to comment on though was that nobody has mentioned the screaming (no, not the porn or Hitler samples) but the "Ohh!" or "Oww!" that repeat throughout the track. Doesn't anyone else think that it sounds very much like Trent Reznor? It would be quite possible, considering the connections NIN and APC have. (danny, paz, billy, maynard, touring, tapeworm, etc.) To me it doesn't sound like it could possibly be Maynard OR Billy. Maybe if it's not Trent (but I REALLY think it is) it's an edited voice, like Billy and Maynard overdubbed on one another. Talk amongst yourselves. |

The city was called CONSTANTINOPLE, named after emperor Constantine, who converted to Christianity and successfully converted much of the late Roman Empire. Today, the city is called Istanbul. Perhaps the song is a reference in some way to him, maybe it's not. I'm just setting the facts straight in the historical front. | |
