| Eminem – Ass Like That Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This song is so stupid... I was starting to gain respect for Eminem after hearing Like Toy Soldiers but then I heard this and remembered why I hate him. | |
| Patent Pending – Cheer up Emo Kid Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Awesome song, awesome band. I think this song is sarcastically and ironically poking fun at kids who do nothing but feel sorry for themselves, and it's telling them to chin up, it's not as bad as you think it is. | |
| Me First and the Gimme Gimmes – One Tin Soldier Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Original One Tin Soldier song was by Dennis Potter and Brian Lambert. This is the best song of all time. I learned it in fifth grade in school to sing at the memorial service we gave (being the oldest children at our elementary school). I soaked up the moment our voices chorused and presented this meaningful, deep song. I have faith that I have a strong interpretation of the song, but, as for all songs, everyone might have a different idea of what it means. Listen children to a story that was written long ago Bout a kingdom on a mountain and the valley far below On the mountain was a treasure, buried deep beneath the stone And the valley people swore they'd have it for their own. (This verse pretty much speaks for itself-- the valley people were greedy. A more subtle touch in this verse is that the first line suggests human greed has gone back far, far in time.) So the people from the valley sent a message up the hill Asking for the buried treasure, tons of gold for which they'd kill Came an answer from the kingdom, "with our brothers we will share All the secrets of the mountain, all the riches buried there." (The valley people are determined and took a seemingly friendly approach at getting the treasure. The mountain people were warm and generous, and offered a portion of the treasure to the valley people, treating them like family.) Now the valley cried with anger, "Mount your horses, draw your swords" And they killed the mountain people, so they won their just rewards Now they stood beside the treasure, on the mountain, dark and red Turned the stone and looked beneath it, "Peace on earth" was all it said. (The most powerful song verse ever. The valley was so greedy they murdered a whole kingdom of relatively good people. And, more subtly, they did not only get nothing from murder, but the song shows that the ultimate treasure is respect, peace, and love on earth.) So go ahead and hate your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend Do it in the name of heaven, you can justify it in the end There won't be any trumpets blowing, come the judgment day But on the bloody morning after, one tin soldier rides away. (Hate the people around you, cheat 'friends.' Do it in heaven's face and give an excuse. In the long run, you might get away with it at first, but you might not get a ticket to heaven. And, for the tin soldier part, I must give credit to Orph for provided the best explaination I have ever read.) Every person in the world should hear this song and apprehend its lyrics. |

| Less Than Jake – History Of A Boring Town Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Some days I come home from school and just listen to this song over and over again. I am pretty young and only in junior high, so I relate to these lyrics in a slightly altered way. I think of 'the crowd that drags me down' as those jerks at my school who are in the popular crowd (not saying that all popular people are jerks, or all jerks are popular people). 'A boring day in a boring town' is a line that lets out my anger after a day where I'm mad because, for example, my friends were ignoring me or, I became frustrated for some reason or another. I know that this song is about not being able to leave town, but for someone my age, it can have a slightly different meaning. | |
