Bobby Darin – Beyond the Sea Lyrics 21 years ago
Very, very classy song. One of these days I'm gonna shock the color out of my wife's skin and sing this on karoake for her.

Neil Young – Heart Of Gold Lyrics 21 years ago
I suppose the song really is about trying to find love. But to me I always thought of an old man searching for something in himself. The allusions to mining I figured was an internalizing action. An old man either trying to feel good about his presence on Earth or trying to find it in himself to spread love. But heck, I can tell I'm the minority opinion on this.

Van Morrison – Sweet Thing Lyrics 21 years ago
This is the song for my wife and me. On one of our first dates we both discovered we were Van Morrison fans and eventually Sweet Thing became our song. I feel that the song is about stopping at nothing to come to the woman you love. And also about finding peace, comfort, acceptance, and shelter in someone. I met my wife shortly before being deployed to Iraq, and the song found new resonance to me.

Frank Sinatra – As Time Goes By Lyrics 21 years ago
Not to take anything from Frank Sinatra or many of the other folks that sang this song, but it's crucial to point out that Dooley Wilson's take on it, which is the version from "Casablanca," is the quintessential version. He delivered the song in a manner that it was meant to be delivered. Simply put, it was meant to be sung that way.

As for it's meaning, I always thought it paralleled the movie's theme, which was one of sacrifice of love for greater causes (like saving the world).
