gosh, i'm so happy i'm not the only one addicted to this song. i am yet to download it cuz i'm grounded off of iTunes (buying too many songs) so i'm desperately asking all my friends to eMail it to me (but i would buy it later of course!) so right now i'm going CRAZY since i dont have it yet! but that's besides the point. what does this song mean to me? well, it's a perticularly interesting one because of the way it speaks out to both sides of my current situation. ok, so i've been on and off with my present boyfriend, but i'm losing more and more love for him. so this song speaks to me in the sadder way. especially with the "eight seconds left in overtime she's on your mind" it reminds me that he's still trying to hold on to me even when he knows the end is soon to come. i know he loves me, but it's so tough (for the both of us) since i just cant bring it to myself to love him back. now, over some time away from home (on a school trip) i got really close with this one guy. he's everything i could ever wish for, but the thing is i dont know him that well. actually, i didn't know him very long is what i should say. so with him, i have that interpretation of the song that confesses that "everyone knows i'm in over my head" cuz i really am. i really am. |

How in the world could this song be about LSD hallucinations when John Lennon didn’t take LSD until 1965 (which he was not aware of since a friend of a friend slipped it in his drink)? This song is NOT of something immoral, but the complete opposite. It’s of a child’s innocent, beautiful, surreal imagination; and not just any child, but HIS child, Julian. So of course he would shine this topic in the brightest of lights. It’s a shame that people misunderstand and just jump to conclusions. But of course this wasn’t anything new to John Lennon since he was misunderstood throughout his whole life. John Lennon is my idol. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is my favorite song. |

yeah, ToTheEnd is right. so the way i see it, is that there's a couple. they were perfect for one another, the love for each other was such a big part of their lives. but like all relationships do, they progress in what they do [ex. kiss, then french, making out, etc]. it then gets to the point where they end up at a point (you cna determine that for yourself) where the innocent, pure love for each other was disrupted. they enjoyed doing whatever they did that got them there, but at the same time, someone (either partner) is longing for the pure hearted love they once had. i miss that love. |

I can really relate to this deby character. I mean, she's been told that she's something that she knows in her heart and her mind that she definately isnt. She just puts up with it her entire life and just listens to it. She knows who and what she really is, what she's really capapble of, but listening to all the pessimistic people around her, and that's what humbles her. |

Whow, you sure know your stuff Slowlyfadingblue! that was a really beautiful story! Well based upon my previous interpretation of this lyrics as well as some suporting parts of Slowlyfadingblue's comment, i see two lovers, and the man realizes "hey, i dont feel like being with you anymore." but then going back to the woman to revelate how he really couldnt survive without her. But she was truly, unconditionally, without a doubt in love with him, not questions asked. She has an imaginiary conversation with him "And if all you want is gone. (if iM not supplying you with what you need) And now all you want is gone. (and i know iM presently not doing so) And now I'm all I've got (so now iM all alone cuz the man i love wasnt satisfied with me)..." so what's this? she ends up killing herself! The man comes back to her and he tells himself the same thing... he concludes the episode- "And if all you want is gone And now all you want is gone And now I'm all I've got..." he has now realized the damage he's done, what she was thinking when she comited suicide. at the same time he realizes that the one thing he wanted was gone forever, and he himself was all alone. |

why hasn't anyone commet this phenomonal song? well before i praise this glorious song, let me give a little correction i noticed to backtothebeat00- it's "and your heart JUMPS to your throat" ok, so this song is so amazing! the emotion of this song seeps through my speakers an all over my room. if you've read my previous comments, iM not an emo type of person, but yes, i do see the background of my life sometimes. with this song and all it's emotion, i know i never would want to go through with anything as extreme as sucide, because i realize that other people do it, but for what? I know i can make it through because i have the strenght. "End of the Background Noise" makes me realize that others will feel this way and i need to help them. I am now an aspiring sucide relief professional. i want to be able to save someone's life by helping them realize that their life IS worth living. so this song means a lot to me possitively, while it may send a negative message. |

a bunch of stuff is happening in my life, just like the most of us. well, this song gets me through everything. It modivates me to "keep on keeping on", which is what i get out of this little melody. for me, it's not about having only curiosity, it's about having hope and preseverance.
