I think this song is about a girl with an eating disorder - "She's empty and so beautiful" - people with anorexia believe that empty is beautiful. Did Jessika have anorexia? I think I read that somewhere once... "she's rotten and so beautiful" even though her insides are rotting and she's damaging herself, she still look beautiful. "She takes the pills to fall asleep and dreams that she's invisible" - Anorexia can cause insomnia, and perhaps she wants to fade away into her skin or something. I think perhaps her boyfriend doesn't pay enough attention to her, so she's starving herself in the hope he'll notice her. And I think the apple falling from the tree is related to her parents, perhaps she starved herself for their attention too. Other things kind of relate to the effects of eating disorders - "no crooked spin" - even her health problems won't get his attention. That's all I can be bothered typing lol Great song though :-) |
