I agree with Tailspin, this song is one of the best songs I"ve heard in awhile. One of those songs that the lyrics are so poetic as far as describing the events. My favorite line is "And the pavement is still warm from the tires.
I can still feel the fright that the night brings. " I didn't get the meaning at first but its so clear now. Amazing song |

Saw this awesome band open up for Counting Crows at RPI in NY a few years ago. This song is pretty self explanetory, SOmetimes the stress of relationships and work/school and whatnot just get to ya sometimes. This was my favorite song to play driving to school on a cold autumn morning sipping coffee |

This was about one of edwins friends who was sent someplace (detention center or juvinile facility) for something that wasn't deserving of that sentence. He missed all the growing up part of his youth and teen. Edwin almost is sarcastic about it, saying "thank you mom for fixing my clouded broken mind" basically saying Thanks for nothing you ruined my life. |

I saw him a few times in concert. This song was about a friend who tripped out one time at a party and climbed a tree. when he came down the trip was enough to scare him into becoming really religious. |

This song is definetly about reflecting on love, so I agree with the first post. but I can see where it can be interpreted as having sex, maybe reflecting back on a time when they were having sex at some point of the relationship. I love the line "I watched your window, for hours...." I remember feeling that way when I was trying to get over someone I really loved. I remember I'd go for drives and I would drive past her house and see her light on.. the song is amazing though, I was hooked after hearing it for the first time. |

I came across this song on accident actually cause I was flipping through stations on the AOL Radio and as soon as this song came on, I fell in love with the tone of the song. I know its a christian song so I think there is 2 interpretations that can come out of this. 1 can be viewed as the songwriters praying to god for his guidance because the world we live in can be hell at times. 2. I think he can be writing about a Gf talking about how times are tough right now, but they will get better. I couple i was friends with committed suicide almost romeo and juliet style and this song helped me through alot of tough times I had in dealing with what happened. |

This song is one of those amazing songs that you can feel every emotion to it. This song I've heard from about 10 people is about Adam's old gf (not sure if Maria was her real name) and she committed suicide and Adam talks about the feeling he gets thinking about her and how he could've prevented it and the warning signs he saw. This song also is kinda tied to Long December when he talks about "the Smell of hospitals and winter and the feeling that its all alot of oysters but no pearls" The reason I love Counting crows so much is that each song tells a real story, and alot of the songs are tied togethor lyrically. its almost like Adams Autobiograhy if you place songs togethor from each album. its truly a brilliant display of songwriting. |
