I fell in love with the English language when I was reading the first verses of Avalanche:
I stepped into an avalanche,
it covered up my soul.
For me is essentially a love song, a very atypical love song. A "Beauty and the Beast" sort of relationship... but it's impossible to explain with a few ideas the very complicate atmosphere it conveys. |

I love _all_ their songs - but "Melody" is my favorite. Here the autobiography (the accident at the face of poor singer Makino) and the surreal are beautifully intertwined. Check also the videoclip: it's a sophisticate little jewel which visually resembles old Scopitone movies and it's packed full of metaphors on the themes of appearance and identity. Probably my favorite musical video ever. |

Two years and a half after my first comment on this song, I'm definitively a huge fan, of Blonde Redhead in general and this song in particular. I'm still not sure about the meaning but "Doll is mine" is utterly perfect, a masterpiece. |

The beauty of the song is precisely that we don't know what happened next, and no clue is given. Someone came: maybe a lover, maybe a killer, who knows? So dark, and so sad. Kudos for Bjorn Ulvaeus who wrote such a dense text for an europop song. |

Thit song is about a real-life incident that occurred in the early 2000. The singer, which is a horse-rider, fell and was trampled by the horse, breaking her jaw and being forced to a long recovery time. Most of the album "Misery is a butterfly" is reminiscent of the accident, from the title track to "Equus".

Uhhh....how many memories....But the lyric doesn't deserve the impressive, beautiful music. And because the music is so sad, the last verses don't make much sense :-). Anyway, a very interesting song. |
