Don McLean – American Pie Lyrics 20 years ago
Thank you GrtOne41!!! That's like the BEST explanation of that song ever!!! You're awesome-
One thing I felt impressed to add... "The Father, Son and Holy Ghost..." I believe he meant really are God, Jesus and The Holy Ghost- and that "caught the last train for the coast" were talking about his feelings of the Three hanging around to comfort as long as they could- but because they didn't feel needed they abandonded him and left. Mind you, I don't believe that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ or the Holy Ghost would ever abandon you... I believe it is US who abandon them. So them catching the last train for the coast is just his expression of feeling separated from Them. That being said- I think it could represent the WHOLE generation... Sex, Drugs and Rock-and-Roll are not in least a holy combination. So really- its feeling separation from God because the people turned their back on him to chose a mortal life in which case they could no longer feel God's presence. But that's just my take.

Lil Jon – Lovers and Friends Lyrics 20 years ago
Sorry thumbelina, but your second guess sounds right. These three guys are dick-heads and just wanting to be friends with benefits. See:
'" And I'll be settin' seperate plays,
So on all these separate days,
Your legs can go they separate...ways" -
Separate plays are other girls he's doing-
So on all these separate days your legs can go theiry separate ways..." that just means that he's doing her in the mean time of doing other women. Yeah, I didn't get it either until I read the lyrics. So I'm going to be removing this song from my "Happy love" cd...it just pisses me off now. :-D

Counting Crows – Colorblind Lyrics 20 years ago
I read an interview that Adam gave about this whole albumn. The whole albumn is about a girl he dated- "Mrs. Potter" as he calls her. Anyway- he said that he wrote Colorblind after they'd spent a few days together and she had to go out of town. He said it was about his desire to be pulled out from inside himself and being ready to try something new. To not be so "black and white" and break out of his shell. I know a guy who is just like this- but he hasn't come to this point yet. He's very content living in black and white. Its easier that way for him- sooner or later, he'll be ready for something "new" and to "live in color". The whole part about "covered in skin" is about a barrier and protecting your heart and feelings from the outside world and other people. This song is not really about sex, sorry guys. Don't mistake a movie using a song in that scene as being what the song is about. The song isn't about them having sex. It's used in that scene because Sebastian is ready to stop being a dick-head and Annette is ready to trust him. The sex is merely what the WHOLE movie is about. This is about taking the plunge. "I am ready, I am ready, I am ready, I am fine." This about being ready to take the next step in the life of love. But I do agree- its a great song for getting it on.

Jack Johnson – Losing Hope Lyrics 21 years ago
I think this song could be about breaking up with someone. It's easy to lose hope *in love* when your only friend is gone. After you've dated someone for a really long time- they become your best friend... they become everything to you and its easy to believe you'll never find another one of them again. The rest of the lyrics could just be metaphors pertaining to the same. Just a different POV since everyone seems to be guessing.
