I saw him play this last night in York, England and although i can't remember what he said word for word he said something like "This is a song about thoughts of running away to California, you may have had them yourself or still have them, i know i have. But do it. Run away." |

"Sorry sunshine it doesn't exist
it wasn't in the top 100 list"
I think this section is about all those magazines (especially Q magazine) that every issue have a top *insert number* albums/tracks of whatever period of time and of course thats one view and it gives readers a feeling of 'well my favourite isn't there so is it really as good as i think it is?' and of course everyone's opinion is different so yes it is as good as you think it is and the magazne's opinion should be taken on the chin. |

| Morrissey – We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
I think this song starts off from the point of view of the past friend saying how much they hate their old friend who has now become famous and then the envy is shown as the reason for the hate they have,
"You see, it should've been me
It could've been me
Everybody knows
Everybody says so"
I think straight after that line the point of view changes to Morrissey, explaining that he knows that his old friends hate him and he knows they can't stand to listen to his songs but he doesn't really care and starts to tease them with him singing "La, la-la, la-la..." almost in a very immature and childish way. Maybe teasing in this way because he knows about thier old friend's jealousy towards him. |

| Morrissey – The Loop Lyrics
|
|
I've posted before but another way you could look at this song is that, "The Loop" is what people call recent gossip, so if you are out of the loop you don't know the gossip. Here maybe Morrissey feels he is out of the loop and is asking for someone to get in touch and let him know the latest news, or maybe he just wants someone to talk to. |

In this song it seems Morrissey is pleading for some affection but doesn't want to seem too forceful with the pleading as it says in the 1st section "(Only if you want to)" |

| Morrissey – The Lazy Sunbathers Lyrics

I was looking at a morrissey site (http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~moz/) and below this song it writes:
"Apparently in the first days after Germany invaded Poland, it was hot beautiful weather in Berlin (and I believe a holiday as well), and crowds of people went to the Wahnsee (a big lake) to sunbathe, both in a sort of state of denial, and knowing this would be the last pleasurable moment before war broke out..." |

In an interview lenny mentioned this song was about when he went for a walk one day and on the same day a bank was broken into. As lenny was walking down the very street the bank was on he was arrested basically because he was black and the police said he matched the robbers description. |

I think this song is about how anything in life nowadays can entertains us and nobody has to have a special talent to be entertaining. Awesome song. Weller is one of the best songwriters ever! |

I think the line "A symbol of where mad, mad lovers
Must PAUSE and draw the line" is saying that even sex obsessed mad lovers would stop themselves when they are faced with this person. Very touching! |

| Morrissey – November Spawned A Monster Lyrics

I feel this song is about a paraplegic girl who feels that she will never be loved. The part that says "And if the lights were out, Could you even bear
To kiss her full on the mouth
(Or anywhere?)" is so powerful, Morrissey is asking if anyone will kiss her. |

| Morrissey – Pregnant For The Last Time Lyrics
| 20 years ago

|
I think this song is saying obviously that someone is pregnant for the last time and that they are going through the the coinsequences for the last time. Maybe Morrissey is mocking them because they are pregnant. Great song. |
