| i cant be completely positive about what she's talking about... but if i had to guess i'd go with some form of the virginity argument. there are just too many directions she could have taken this... it could be a combo... she could be considering losing her "virginity" to some label and her career could drown or some other combo about ophelia which i admit i dont know enough about... all i can really say is dont approach trying to figure any of her works out as your language arts teacher would have you... aka the way i saw people talking about the photoshop line. the sheer fact that she mentioned a modern digital imaging tool(among...anything shes ever done... ever) shows shes not going to drive between the lines... | |

| wow. i can't believe this song was turned into a debate about religion. taylordcraig has a good point. seriously listen to the lyrics from the shoes of people on both sides of the arguement. the lyrics support much more the idea of the song being the loss of someone close to you(ie family member or lover) than jesus. yes the band may be religious, which gave them the ability to use religious quotes in their lyrics to make the song that much more powerful, but the lyrics just don't support the idea that the song is about the loss of Christ, Himself. i gaurentee if you think about these lyrics from an accurate perspective of someone that's personally lost someone dear to them you will be able to note the difference. while it is a great feeling to be able to familiarize, as a christian, with songs about Christ... i just can't see how this is one of those songs. | |

I was just reading all the posts here and I find a lot of the ideas very interesting. Sometimes I wish that the bands would come on here and post the actual meanings of the songs lol. Anyway while i was thinking about this song's meaning I was looking at their flash site. I was always really confused by the nun in the bottom center.. she has like 6 guns around her head.. I imagine she is the sister in this song. and when u put ur mouse over her her eyes become red x's and then if u click the guns fire and she starts crying blood.. but as soon as u pull the mouse away she is alive again. i think all that relates to the chorus. You're running after something That you'll never kill If this is what you want Then fire at will because u cant kill the nun and u can just fire at will.. but it never makes a difference.. not sure how that ties into it all though... just thought i'd share my little discovery : ) |
