I don't know why, but whenever I hear "but they caught him with his case in a public place" it makes me think of a flasher. I don't care if that's what it actually means, but that's what I think of and it makes me laugh just a bit. |

| I don't hear "kid gloves", I hear "kid's gloves". I don't know if this has any bearing on the song, but it almost makes it sound as if she's light, fancy free, and he's too busy worrying about problems he sees. Two people, polar opposites. | |

For some reason, I've always thought about this song as a woman thinking about killing her husband, but kills herself instead. Especially with the words "Away with these nightmares/ Away with suburbia". But then when I read another stanza, it sounds almost as if she's braindead in the hospital and her husband is keeping her alive by artificial means, even if she wouldn't have wanted that. "She's lucid and departed A life left behind, she can find in her mind gone away" "But I am a butterfly, you wouldn't let me die" And it took me forever to realise it wasn't "she can find in a mine", which always made me think she went to prison. |
