If you don't like this song because "hip hop isn't real music" than you are a complete moron.
Also, Cradle of Filth sucks. Get out of here with that shit. What are you, 16? |

S.O.S. doesn't actually mean anything, it's just easy to remember: ... --- ...
BUT, will she have the guts to cover Tainted Love instead of just sampling it? Oh, how I would enjoy that. |

I can't even listen to this song anymore because my ex listened to it so much, it reminds me of him. :/ Of all the songs to associate sad memories with, it had to be a song about having a gigantic, shit-filled colon. How embarrassing is that? |

| My Chemical Romance – Thank You For The Venom Lyrics
| 20 years ago

well, here's my almost-certainly-wrong theory:
"What's life like, bleeding on the floor"
someone that the singer was close to, a sister perhaps, has been injured by someone and is bleeding to death on the floor. or something. and this sister or whatever, is asking the singer to go and find the person who did it to her, and offer him salvation.
"I keep a gun on the book you gave me, hallelujah, lock and load"
but the brother is one of these "outlaw" types and doesn't want to offer salvation, and feels like it's all kind of a joke anyway, and will only go after the killer if she gives him a good reason (i.e. vengeance) to do it.
"So give me all you poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
And make me ill"
like I said, almost certainly wrong, but I enjoy that interpretation a lot :) |

I thought Morrissey wrote this one first, then Alan Rankin wrote "Stephen, You're Really Something" in response. At least, that's the song that appears on The Associates' collection of random rejected stuff. |

I like this song, even though Morrissey and Marr both say it's the Smiths' worst song. Although my favorite is "Shoplifters", so I suppose I'm redeemed somewhat.
Still kind of cute, though. Put it beside "Paint A Vulgar Picture". |

you know, I am a vegetarian and I love the Smiths SO much, and I still think this song is horrible.
Treefinger: Humans, like bears, are omnivorous, so we can survive on just vegetables. Lions, on the other hand, are carnivores and will actually die a miserable death if forced to eat a vegetarian diet. |

| My Chemical Romance – Under Pressure (with The Used) Lyrics
| 20 years ago

Okay, this song is definately going on my top-ten list of awful, unnecessary covers. in fact, it might even challenge t.a.t.u.'s godawful cover of How Soon is Now for dominance of the list... see, the point of a cover, or what I always thought the point was, was to add something to a song. A new perspective on it, perhaps. A different take on its meaning and relevance. The only thing that MCR and The Used added was tuneless singing.
And I offer no interpretation of the lyrics here. To do so on MCR's page and not Queen's or Bowie's would be immoral and wrong, so suck on that, teenyboppers. |

the first time I heard this song, I thought the lyrics sucked because... hell, I was 13, I thought simple words = stupid. Now I know so much better, I'm ashamed. they're the most powerful lyrics I've ever heard, and Marr is fucking amazing. Sigh.
...On another note, Avril Lavigne covered this?! Shit, that has to rank right up there with MCR / The Used's cover of Under Pressure on my list of godawful covers that shouldn't exist. |

I would probably like this song a whole lot more if I didn't like Hellblazer so much. I mean, it's still a pretty song and all, but when you have the mental image of "Constantine" (or Konstantine, in your head it doesn't matter) being a chain-smoking, foul-mouthed 30-year-old British man, well... |

God, there was a time when being punk meant more than skipping school and laughing at metalheads. In fact, that was more of a means to an end than an end in itself. But that doesn't matter anymore, does it? |

| The Dresden Dolls – Coin-Operated Boy Lyrics

It could be about a dildo-- see the lines
"made of plastic and elastic"
but then... it could also not be about a dildo. Because really... who wants to hold a dildo in their arms? Not me. :P I don't think it's really about a male prostitute either, because prostitutes would of course be experienced with girls. And dildos, being made of plastic, can't feel like a boy should feel.
So who knows? Maybe she has a blow-up doll. |
