Tom Marshall said in an interview he conciously wrote this song to his son, as if it was in the future and he had died, and he was sending him this message. He noticed, because of the similarities pointed out, that he may have sub-conciously written about the 9-11 attacks in the song. This was written shortly after 9-11-01 with some of the lyrics: "And when it fell you caught my heart before it hit the ground but if you ever need the names of those you couldn't save you'll find them on the walls of the cave" "look away the time goes past these rocks will fall away at last look away" along with the initials of the title Walls (of) The Cave - WTC |
