I get the greatest feeling when I listen to this song. It's almost like I dont even want to think too much about what the song probably means..I love just focusing on the image that the chorus gives. Really gorgeous. |

I wish chan was singing this song to me right now...in my living room, on my piano...i wish she was singing it for me..i would probably stick my head inside of the piano and listen for a moment and the after that i would stare at her. |

If you really like this song, listen to the great bossa nova singer, Joao Gilberto - His best cd is just him and his guitar (João Voz E Violão) It sounds to me like Jack was listening to this cd quite a bit when he wrote this song... |

| Iron & Wine – Minor Piano Keys Lyrics

\'days, days like a SUMMER rain...\'
On a piano or any instrument, minor keyed songs are usually a bit more sad and depressing sounding... Such as this song.
I think the words \'her minor piano keys, slip through the screen of the door\' simply means that bad news is coming into her house...such as her husband dying in the war. Now she waits and sam is talking about the things that a man should say to her and do...maybe the man is in love with the woman whose husband died in the war...i dont know really but i know that it\'s something along those lines... |

(hehehehe did....it's called Sodom, South Georgia. And if you knew that, your joke's not funny) Sam beam is possibly talking about him wanting his mom to let go of him and let him see the world for what he sees. He throws in some good memories to cheer her up. I know i do when my mom and i are in a fight. I just know as a son, who is about to go through 'weaning' of my mother. Maybe ill play this song for my mom. . . |

Sex is the wrong word...i think he truly loves the woman with the long black hair. Who ever it may be...hopefully his wife...I think rather than it jsut being about sex, he is talking about the things that are more beautiful than sex....and sam beam covered every one of those things in this song... Mr. Beam has done it again.... |

| Iron & Wine – Free Until They Cut Me Down Lyrics

Considering Sam Beam grew up in South Carolina, at the end of a time where rascism was quite bad. He could've possibly been talking about that.... maybe putting himself in a black man's shoes in the segregated south and having sex with a white girl...being extremely frowned upon back in the day of slavery, inspiring enough to write a song about. |

'and oh how she prays to find a man to blame
for every loveless night she waits
and for every gun that she frowned upon
but still some fucker made '
Guns ruin lives...
(You know when sam beam swears, it's not just for kicks, thats what makes his swearing more powerful and his songs too.) |

| Iron & Wine – Lion's Mane Lyrics

The lion's mane is an obvious representation of where love waits for all of us. A lion's mane is something you can only get to if you have the courage to set your mind aside from what bad things may come out of it and have faith that love will outrule anything else. But that's just me. |
