Bright Eyes – You Will. You? Will. You? Will. You? Will. Lyrics 20 years ago
I think maybe the perspective at the very end is where this girl has indicated Conor will return to her and when he does she'll be there and he's kind of saying-will you be there? Because if you won't or if you aren't there when I return I'll drink myself a fucking grave.

Bright Eyes – Make War Lyrics 20 years ago
Clearly addressed to an ex lover I think it's about the souring of old love despite promises and assurances that the relationship will remain civil. I'm interested in the meataphor of the drawer "Exchangin' our affections through a drawer"- moochersminion said something about a gas station- I'm Australian, and we have just started getting service stations as we call them, where you and the attendant are separated by glass- in the States do you put money in a drawer? Do others think this is what the line means?

I think Conor is also lamenting the fact that the girl will be changed and moulded by the new lover who'll "make war" on the person Conor once loved. He has amazing turn of phrase- "He'll become, become, the prisoner I was"... this is a brilliant song

Bright Eyes – I Believe in Symmetry Lyrics 20 years ago
The line is actually; " no politics, no history" as someone said a few posts ago- think about it- it fits with the philosophy of the song which is about shedding the unnessecary in one's life.

The first part is not nessecarily pro science ( in my opinion- as all of this is) so much as a epiphany- Conor is celebrating the sheer simplicity of the universe in that some things are constants. Sometimes when the sheer simple brilliance of something hits you, it's almost spititual.

Bright Eyes – Hit the Switch Lyrics 20 years ago
I think this, like alot of Conor's songs, is him lamenting ( or just observing) his flakiness- I love him to death as a writer, but he makes no bones about being unreliable.
This song in particular is about alcoholism- which may seem like a strong word to use, but I doubt Conor would disagree that he has substance issues- I think he's musing about how he's looking for some solution in the bottom of a glass and he cant find it. He talks about doing a "geographical" which is moving away from his problems, but even out west he still has nightmares.

I don't think there's any greater purpose to this song- no moral to be given- Just Conor writing about part of his life. It's poetry
