| Bon Iver – The Wolves (Act I and II) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
"In the morning I'll call you," sounds like a lie to me. He doesn't care what he's giving up, what he's losing, because he's decided not to try anymore. "What might have been lost, don't bother me." Taking the golden opportunity to be the one who doesn't give a shit. Knowing that she'll analyze it, try to figure out what went wrong, and find some way to pull through regardless. I doubt this is the literal interpretation, but it tugs at me. Maybe because I don't think men take into account what "might have been..." they have a real knack for moving on! :) |

| Modest Mouse – Blame It on the Tetons Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
okay i have to be slightly on the defensive side of the modest mouse selling out issues. of course, a band who makes as beautiful and skillful music as modest mouse is almost bound to become famous. their music is so profound and somewhat catchy. i've introduced friends to the band and many have become brockians. however, i was just a tiny bit disapointed with this album. the lyrics are still great on a lot of the songs (except for motherfucking float on) and in truth this album was made before they became big. but at the same time their music became... i don't know.... tame. maybe safe. it used to be so all over the place and that was always something that appealed to me. it was as though issac was writing his music only to please himself, and in turn, pleased a medium sized fan based who became obsessed with what he had to say. good news for people who love bad news is a little more controlled, maybe a little duller than the previous albums but that's not the real problem. the real problem is their latest album.... that is a pop album. it's sad and very very sad and very very very sad. i think those of us who've grown with modest mouse for years and years see this album almost as the begining of the end. it's just not the same anymore... the music was so raw and unpolished and human and anyone could relate to it. songs like lives and baby blue sedan have a desperation and a truth that you don't find with the band's new music. not to say that it's worthless. this album is pretty good and i bop my head to the latest songs (like missed the boat). but like i said, veteran fans like myself and those using the term "sell out" are a little bitter, and we have the right to be. and i speak for the group when i say that we don't like seeing dashboard in an ad for verizon cell phones. that was too long. |

| Taking Back Sunday – Ghost Man on Third Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| sad to say but tbs songs arnt like this anymore. this song is so raw, the vocals arnt perfect. i love when he breaks into screams in the middle. the new album is so formulaic. its so fall out boy/my chemical romance/radio stationy. i love this song because its so open to interpretation. theres a lot to think about and its brilliantly written. | |

| Interpol – Obstacle 1 Lyrics | 19 years ago |

this song confuses me. the only part that really makes sense to me is these lines: "It's in the way that she poses It's in the things that she puts in my hair Her stories are boring and stuff She's always calling my bluff She puts the, she puts the weights in to my little heart and she gets in my room and she takes it apart" she poses and tells boring stories and makes a mess of his room. shes not the best person for him, but she obviously fills some sort of void in his life. she knows him and calls him on his bluffs. that part really amazes me. the way he, like many people, is attracted to the one person who just messes things up in his life but hes almost addicted to the weight she puts in his heart, even though shes never satisfed (her heaven is never enough" and neither is he when hes with her. |

| The Smiths – Sheila Take a Bow Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| to me this song will always be simple. "come on live a little! dont go home to night, stay here with me. im a boy and you're a girl" | |
| Primitive Radio Gods – Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth With Money In My Hand Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
love all the interpretations. its always seemed to me that some people could zip through life enjoying it and not questioning what they feel doesnt need to be questioned. but then theres always others, who absolutely need to examine everything... this song paints a picture of some friends sitting outside arguing and even questioning their existances. its pretty remarkable. we're all just riding waves not knowing where we're going in life but its hard not to wonder about all those seemingly unanswerable questions. i dont know if that makes sense to anyone else but i love this song. its pretty amazing, you ride the waves and don't ask where they go. am I alive or thoughts that drift away? does summer come for everyone? can humans do what prophets say? and if I die before I learn to speak can money pay for all the days I lived awake but half asleep? |

| The Decemberists – On the Bus Mall Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i personally dont see romantic love in this song. i see fraternal love "we fuse like a family" but "i will not mourn for you" tells me that they're friendship is looked at as a more temporary thing. that when they arnt turning tricks at the bus mall, he won't mourn the loss of this friend that he loves because its fused into the tough life of turning tricks in bathrooms and ballrooms. thats my imagination running wild. love this song. | |
| Oasis – Champagne Supernova Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| we're moving closer to death everyday. you should be there when you're friends are getting high. theres no actual meaning to anything including this song and that is sheer beauty. | |
| Xiu Xiu – Muppet Face Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"Muppet Face," with its howl of wind-tunnel guitar, house beats and eerie harmonium, talks about "a cat dying and the negative understanding of how fucked up my sexual self is and how disgusted I have become with myself in regards to this." ahhhhhhhhhh |

Humchuckninny. no. are you kidding? "And America can't say no And America does If America says it's so It's so And the anchorperson on t.v. Goes la-di-da-di-da" you seriously think thats not complete and utter sarcasm? this song is so obviously anti-war. |

| Fall Out Boy – Love Will Tear Us Apart (Joy Division cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song makes me want to join Ian. I've always hated "FOB" with burning passion but I try to respect people's music. However, after hearing they had covered a joy division song, and worse yet, completely slayed it, I feel the need to insult all fall out boy fans. | |
| Lemon Jelly – Nice Weather for Ducks Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| The Decemberists – On the Bus Mall Lyrics | 20 years ago |

"Because of course, male prostitutes and love cannot possibly be found in the same context." I meant that whether or not they're male prostitutes there's love. so really its irelevant what the song is "really" about. |

| Boys Night Out – I Got Punched in the Nose for Sticking My Face in Other People's Business Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| well meaning-wise i think this song represents a relationship which is so serious and volatile that all he can do is laugh at it, because he knew she would wind up killing him (well figuratively) and he was right. | |
| The Decemberists – On the Bus Mall Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
well maybe it is about male prostitutes, but it seems like love to me. whether romantic or otherwise. i picture it two teenagers traveling and theres just a connection there. The way Colin talks to and about him so delicately. It's just a comforting and beautiful song. "as four in the morning came on cold and boring we huddled close at the bus stop enclosure enfolding our hands tightly holding " |

| The Decemberists – On the Bus Mall Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Beautful song, I could cry listening to it. I wonder though, specifically, is she a prostitute? I adore the Decemberists. Does anyone suggest any bands like them? | |
