Uhm yeah... but I still go with what Fatty said, that they ripped the name off from NegativeFX, an old boston band. Y'know, with the drummer now being straight edge and whatnot :P |

El hefe, a better musician than Mike? First off I don't think that there's good or bad in music, but if you really wanna look at it that way, they don't play the same instruemnt. Also, Mike made most of their songs(as in guitar also). |

Yeah I agree Squeek, And also, since their music has pretty much been about them making a song how they feel like, be it ska, acoustic, old school punk, new school punk, silly, serious, nostalgic, fast, slow, long or short. And with all of that falling into the category of their "signature" type of music, it's pretty hard to pin their sound down, don't you think? |

Yeh John Smith is like the name for the generic examplke LOL or something like that.... so the average american... I guess in the song the guy tried so hard to become what society sees as a "successful, happy man" And in the end he realised how stupid it was that he didn't just have fun when he had a chance to... Well that's what I think it's about... |

| NOFX – Green Corn Lyrics

Well actually I was curious as to the lyrics as well so i went on a search and found out that some of the lyrics are quotes (or taken from quotes) from a 1987 movie called "Barfly".
Like this part was probably from the movie, but they changed it a bit:
"Sometimes I just get tired of thinking of all the things that I don't wanna do. All the things that I don't wanna be. Places I don't wanna go, like India, like getting my teeth cleaned. Save the whale, all that, I don't understand that."
and this definitely:
"Baby, What we had was just green corn."
Check it out here: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0092618/quotes
Man, I' hoping to get to see this movie soon though, just cause it has something to do with NOFX! |
