what? pervasive energy of exuberance? which dismemberment plan songs give you that idea? i could point out a sense of optimism..but exuberance? and while i do agree with you on the idea of free will i strongly agree with the others that this song is imbedded with a feeling of disillusionment for the protagonist. don't be pretentious. (i'm pretty sure there's some irony in me saying that) :-/ |

hahaha...phantom limb. that is hilarious. but yes. i concur with the lesbians...er lesbian interpretation. the two girls are a phantom and a fly. both outcasts and alienated from the "tribe" by their "crime" of being gay. man...phantom limb...hahahaha....how do they come up with these things? |

i really like this song. i think this song is more about the dying love in a relationship. the first spark slowly fades away until the couple finds itself stuck. but the song portrays the man worried about his wife or girlfriend getting tired of him. i agree with skyjukeboxhero about the 'brothers on a hotel bed" part. walla uses this simile to present the feeling of sleeping on the same bed with someone you used to love but now is more like sleeping with a relative; someone you've known all your life; someone who is just...there. |
