its about getting over someone and not knowing your right from your left because at first you feel lost when you loose someone you love-the "shame" part describes the wrongs both you your lost love put on eachother-I think Billy emphasize the "shame" part to try and say there was more bad than good in the relationship. I feel like this song is about regret due to a lost love-honestly this song has taken on diffrent meanings to me at diffrent points in my life-its like a silent rage eating you up inside for something you did or didn't do. "the rain falls my friends call leaking rain on the phone" is devastating-its saying you can turn to know one because everyone has their own crap to deal with. can't really peg this one its mellodramatic beauty at its best-I love this song but try not to listen to it too much because it hurts to feel the lyrics and relate them to your life. |

Its art the way this song comes together-I have to agree w/ Pablo Joe Jingy about this song being overlooked-its a classic in my own mind. I agree that this song is about being afraid of change and maybe being rejected for it-"and should I fall from grace here with you would you leave me to?"-that kind of sums up the song for me. |

This is the ultimate love song!! Kind of sad though which is probaly the reason I love it. Its no fairytale its what Love is really about(joy&pain), finding your soulmate and relating to that person like you can relate to knowone else. |
