...this song is amazing- especially the way it just goes in, out, then into My Way Home...its just funky as hell. It seems like one of those very strange songs that probably means something different to everyone... Pablo Picasso was one of the innovators of surrealism and was known for his creations of fantasy...to me the song is like a metaphor for someone who becomes one with and falls in love with their work and will stop at nothing to protect it... or the feeling of his work losing integrity as the artist gains fame. Cope seems to be dealing with these same themes throughout this album. Or maybe there isn't a more serious meaning underneath and its just a kick-ass song w/ strange lyrics.... |

...this song kicks ass. Your right, when they perform it live its right after Inward Singing. They get in a fight on stage then Kyle gives Jack the finger and starts to walk off stage....Jack consoles him and comes back to the mic and sings "Half a minute ago...Kyle quit the band" Its fucking hilarious. Also a really great Reggae, rock band from Long Beach called Bargain Music cover this song in one of their dubs....its pretty killer...... |

man, Mars Volta lyrics are so subjective ... when you chrome something you protect it, reinforce it, and make it attractive (or in this case maybe socially acceptable?), Fetal - of or related to a fetus, Mirage- an optical illusion; something illusory and impossible to attain.....It may relate to the psychological impact that being "born of rape" must have had on Vismund Cygnus which could have to do with why she/he became a prostitute and become infected with AIDs?? or a coping strategy? Almost like convincing yourself you weren't born out of these horrible circumstances....or VC herself is pregnant or wants to get pregnant or is pretending to be pregnant (i.e. Mirage)??? ...ahh hell...I don't fuckin' know...... |

I have to agree with gengy the most, but take it a bit further.... Iron & Wine do an incredible job with this song...maybe even better than Postal Service..but when you put it in context with Postal Service's ability to write an amazing song then you really have to give PS some serious credit...Basically I&W wouldn't have been able to blow you away with this if PS didn't pen it first.... |

...this song is amazing as is most of Bargain's stuff...but I've rarely had anyone listen to this track and not like it. Basically- he would do just about anything in this world for this girl and has, but he will not change or turn down the stereo which is playing his favorite band and friends of theirs, The Ziggens (legendary, surf-punk, hilarious Long Beach favorites).....this creates a fight and he gets lumped up by his girl resulted in said "Black Eye"..... The Ziggens are also mentioned in the Sublime song "Greatest Hits"....Bradley was a huge fan of their music as well and often covered Ziggens tunes. But check out more from Bargain Music...cause they fuckin' rock!! What up Josh?! |

...I dunno....this song completely fuckin rocks though...which is why I feel the need to post. I haven't heard anything this good or intense or insane in awhile. As corny and as trite as it sounds, this song truly takes you on a rollercoaster ride. As far as interpretation?? This one's a toughie ...as is most of Omar and Cedic's stuff. I know as much as most of you: The album is based on a diary that band member Jeremy (who died in May 2003) found while working as a repo man. The diary talked of a man, who was adopted as a child, searching for his biological parents. The song titles apparently represent characters that he encounters on his journey. The diary was not finished when Jeremy found it so he and Cedric took it upon themselves to complete it......Cassandra Gemini could possibly be mostly their addition and completion of this story.....but I don't know what I'm babblin' about....and I sure as hell can't figure it out yet..... |
