U2 – City of Blinding Lights Lyrics 19 years ago
i understand this as the superficiality of things.. like the "blinding lights" are the things that don't let you appreciate things the way they really are.. and the "advertisings in the skies" are the stars, that remind us like the world we live in.. thats why then ist says "can you see the beauty inside of me?" like not just to see the person itself, but his soul... also in "Time won’t leave me as I am".. is that people are going to change in time.. but the beauty inside stays forever...

The Goo Goo Dolls – Black Balloon Lyrics 19 years ago
According to one source, Johnny has said that "Black Balloon" is about "seeing someone you love that is so great just fuck up so bad." Speculation as to the song's subject has included bassist Robby Takac's ex-wife (who overdosed on heroin).

I FOUND THIS ON THE INTERNET..!

"Name was the Goo Goo Dolls' first hit. This was "quite accidentally," according to lead singer Johnny Rzeznik. He says that he came up with the songs' tuning, D A E A E E, while he was sitting on his couch aimlessly twisting the tuning pegs on his guitar. He said "I didn't even know what notes they were so I used a guitar tuner so find out then I jotted them down on a post it." He says that he wrote it as a love ballad, reflecting his childhood as an orphan."

Switchfoot – Stars Lyrics 19 years ago
"According to Jon this song is about perspective, a song about stepping back in the midst of chaos and looking at the stars; the idea of anti-entropy, implying there must be something keeping the world together. "The first verse looks at things from Descartes perspective, pinning the center of the universe on the individual. 'Maybe I've been the problem,' maybe I'm overcast, falling apart, etc... The second verse talks about our world from the perspective of the stars looking down on earth from the eternal dance of gravity and motion." Despite these deep lyrics, Jon says he likes the song best for its guitar riffs."

Johnny's parents died when he was 14.. her fathre was an alcoholic her mother died the same year of a heart disease... i think this song is maybe about how he and his sisters felt when they lost his parents .. i don't know ... something to do with that..
