Carole King – You've Got A Friend Lyrics 20 years ago
This redefines a "Friend" to mean beyond somthing beyond what most people only imagine. Somebody once said, "it's easy to find friends to stand beside you when you're right, but a true friend stands beside you, even when you're wrong." Well, by this post she knows, she matters. You friend, matter to me. Don't blow it!

The Beatles – Hey Jude Lyrics 21 years ago
Technocrats.. all of you. It's just a "silly love song." Whether to Jules or "Judy, Judy, Judy, Judy.." the purpose is to make someone swoon with attention. And, singing this song to the right person, makes them pay attention, like "Hey" their singing to me. And, like Jim would say, "It's B-U-T ful" a bouquet of roses being handed to someone you love. And, the NA NA NANA, NANANANA... is the icing on the cake. One of the main reasons we love the Beetles is because they made "goot" love songs, and when they tripped-out they took us with 'em.

The Beatles – Girl Lyrics 21 years ago
From a different point of view Brittney attempted something like this in Not Yet a Woman. She cautions not quite knowing herself, and that's what so many young men (boys) misgauge. Girls go from cute skin and bone to lightspeed attractiveness in such a short time, that they can really harm us (men), still we can't help but love them.. and in spite of their misgivings we keep wishing the "girl" was a woman and as beautiful inside as she is outside. Yet, over and over we let ourselves be fooled.... hence... "ahhhh, girl, girl, girl... I'd break my back for you."

The Beatles – Because Lyrics 21 years ago
Restless, intense, finding synergy in becoming the expanding explosive, and opinionated base of a four-sided triangle, the Beetles were on a quest skyward in unity. Looking for the answer for "Why," they found the only solution, "Because" and sought to express their epiphany by blending chords and harmony with the simple, but profound truth of human existance. When you ask "why," unless you include the whole reality of existence found so easily in the world around us, the only logical answer is "Because." This song gets in the face of the listener connoting "Don't you get it!"

The Beatles – Don't Let Me Down Lyrics 21 years ago
When released.. I was going through this same emotion. My fiance had left me.. because her parents demanded. I was younger, the wrong religion, uneducated and an American Indian. They took her from me and moved far away. This song was playing as I followed her to the airport to see her off, still hoping we could somehow be together.
The flip side of the single was "Something" and both songs were co-hits being played over and over (no pun intended). Even today, hearing either one of these songs is haunting because they instantly take me back to being in love with my insides quaking from the things about her that moved me, and my voice and lungs exploding and ready to scream "Don't Let Me Down." I guess the Beetles had my number.. that's what made them genius.

The Beatles – Across the Universe Lyrics 21 years ago
I've been near to this since it's release. Simply, and the only meaning, is that knowing and experiencein joy, beauty, and oneness within the inner self... is love. And, when a person is in "love" it completes the "universe," thus, when everything is right and whole "across the universe," a person can't help but feel that "nothings gonna change my world." A feeling that a person who is in love and at peace with everyone and everything around them, finds great joy in meditating (praying) about because it's something they never wish to see the end of. Indeed, the Beetles knew this way back when, just like people have aways known... but rarely have it seen it expressed so well and so complete.
I believe George contributed more than John to this song, adding the melody, much of the lyric and guitar, but John (true to the thought) adopted the idea and gave it form. John was best at re-creating himself to adapt to the demands being made.
Beauty and harmony... always.
